Hitman and AMD in DX12 partnership

I didn't point the finger at anyone lol and those who were talking off topic know who they are! Back on topic now then?

Who the hell is going to buy this game before the end of 2016? Episodic gaming my arse.
Square Enix are just trying to drip feed a AAA game with no guarantee of quality or it being finished unless sales are huge.

First level of Hitman might be amazing and the rest could be with a unexperienced third party studio because "costs", just remember Arkham Knight and Mortal Combat X on PC.

Everywhere points to AMD using Async shaders in Hitman and this is part of DX12.

Oh and for the purpose of Tommybhoy:

you

"are you listening?"
2.

Singular instance isn't in the context within a sentence mate, as pointed out in your quote above, but considering your off topic comment earlier, keep going...

You are quite correct and it is saying DX11 but I have a sneaking suspicion that we will see DX12 at some point. I would be surprised if we see it from the off but maybe a couple of months after and a good selling point for this episodic game I guess. Maybe all the rumors are wrong (including my very own site) and we will all look like numptys :D

@Tommy - I give up and if you want to think I was pointing the finger at you, fine, I will go with it as this is getting stupid and you are not contributing to the thread at all and just making it worse.

I have bought the first episode and will see if it is any good. If it isn't, I have only lost a tenner and if it is good, I can pay in installments :D

one thing is for sure if crossfire doesnt work AMD will get it in the neck :)

im not sure if its even a good candidate for dx12? was hitman ever a cpu heavy game?
id rather see a totalwar or even a mmo that has dx12

been playing some blades and soul l8ly and that has a setting where u can set what fps it runs at when in the background, i love that, all games should have that!

IIRC and I can check but I do recall Hitman Absolution being quite CPU heavy.

It could be the case but GameWorks effects these days all seem to be using way to much Tessellation. Again though the developer can be blamed yet it's one of Nvidia's big strengths over Amd hardware. Just a coincidence yea.

Yes its just a coincidence that AMD sponsered games use a sensible level of Tessellation, the "developers" always seem to know what they are doing with Tessellation and are not lazy to implement it sensibly.

Well I won't be buying the game, I have no interest in supporting this practice, by the sounds of it.... you are essentially paying for missions that have been cut out of the main game

So now it isn't a DX12 title?

Half the games on the planet have rumours of DX12 patches coming but up and until now what I've read here was stating it was a DX12 game as if it's a fact. But that isn't the case?

If anything it's a bit of both but don't have a problem with you apportioning the blame at my feet if it makes you feel better, no grudges here X.:p

Hitman AB was a very demanding title when running with max IQ.

While I agree they should just serve up the full title as at worst the episodic nature is causing widespread negativity that will impact sales, however (while I think I'm in the minority)I don't really complete the vast majority as I lose interest with the repetition most games have, maybe this is right up my street not paying for something I don't finish-saying that, I ended up completing AB by resorting to Rambo mode with all out shooting.:D

This is what AMD supposedly said:

AMD is once again partnering with IO Interactive to bring an incredible Hitman gaming experience to the PC. As the newest member to the AMD Gaming Evolved program, Hitman will feature top-flight effects and performance optimizations for PC gamers.
Hitman will leverage unique DX12 hardware found in only AMD Radeon GPUs—called asynchronous compute engines—to handle heavier workloads and better image quality without compromising performance. PC gamers may have heard of asynchronous compute already, and Hitman demonstrates the best implementation of this exciting technology yet. By unlocking performance in GPUs and processors that couldn’t be touched in DirectX 11, gamers can get new performance out of the hardware they already own.
AMD is also looking to provide an exceptional experience to PC gamers with high-end PCs, collaborating with IO Interactive to implement AMD Eyefinity and ultrawide support, plus super-sample anti-aliasing for the best possible AA quality.
This partnership is a journey three years in the making, which started with Hitman: Absolution in 2012, a top seller in Europe and widely critically acclaimed. PC technical reviewers lauded all the knobs and dials that pushed GPUs of the time to their limit. That was no accident. With on-staff game developers, source code and effects, the AMDGaming Evolved program helps developers to bring the best out of a GPU. And now in 2016, Hitman gets the same PC-focused treatment with AMD and IO Interactive to ensure that the series’ newest title represents another great showcase for PC gaming!

I ran with it, as it seems legit although I can't find who at AMD said it.

Yep that's the link I posted early on in the thread, pretty sure AMD would have gotten legit to retract it if not the case, and imagine AMDJoe would have said it wasn't happening either.

Yep these coicidences keep happening yet there is no proof.most of us were not born yesterday but some on this forum were.

Yeah I must admit, I really have to force myself to complete a lot of games in the last year or 2 but still, I rather not have games done this way, it is a terrible way to do things just like day 1 DLC i.e. content removed from the base game just to make an extra buck or 2, pure greed and nothing else.

We need to go back to the true and proper DLC ways like bad company 2 vietnam i.e. something developed after the main game release! :(

haha, I give up with AB about 3-4 missions in iirc, it was just a bore fest.
