Coolgate Radiators

Or more specifically, The G2 X-Flow.

After cleaning out 3 XSPC radiators and having hardly any junk at all coming out, I'm wondering if it's normal for Coolgate rads to lose almost half their weight when the junk is cleaned out of them?

This was the amount of junk that came out of the first wash

And the second...

...and third...

Yep, still going strong on the fourth

After 7 washes there's STILL junk coming out, this can't be normal can it? Starting to worry about the build quality of these things

Hot distilled water, same as I did on the XSPC's. 8 washes in I finally seem to be getting somewhere, it's ALMOST clean!

My pair (CG360+G2 360) both took around 3-4 flushes with warm water and distilled vinegar before they were clear. Not had anything in the loop either so I must have got it all. My old Thermochill PA120.3 took many more flushes to clear all the gunk out of that. Certainly nothing wrong with the build quality.

That's good news, so once clean they're actually a decent radiator? Certainly wasn't confidence inspiring seeing the Sahara Desert fall out of it but as you've run yours without issues, after cleaning them properly, that's cheered me up a bit this morning!

coolgate are actually better than a lot of others. I do agree that it isnt great but there are much worse on the market.

I would suggest always cleaning a radiator with at least 5 flushes anyway.

you have been spoiled because XSPC are [generally speaking] always the cleanest rads that need the least work to pre clean.

Ah, so I wasn't unlucky this time, just very lucky with my previous choices. Cheers rjk, think I'll stick with XSPC for future builds then if they're usually one of the better ones

Really don't understand how manufacturers ship them out in such a poor state though, surely they should be shipped 'good to go' and ready to just plumb in? Doesn't exactly look good selling a brand new product that requires an hour of cleaning before use...

No worries mate, and on the plus side at least you'll have arms like Popeye by the time you've finished cleaning it!

I sort of see what you are saying but it is really just good practice to thoroughly clean your hardware before installation to maximise the lifespan of the loop.

XSPC being the cleanest out of the box is information I have gained from personal experience and also from research that my pals at Mayhems have conducted in their R&D for fluids.

When I first started WC, the best thing on the market was Thermochill and some of the stuff I have pulled out of them looked like it had come from the titanics watery grave.
But you dont mind when the performance is good

It did get me thinking though, has anyone pulled apart an AIO unit and flushed the radiator? You'd obviously hope they were flushed properly before assembly but it does make you wonder... Be intrigued to see the results if anyone fancies pulling theirs apart

I don't see the issue, you pay a premium for XSPC kit over the coolgate stuff and cleaning your components should always be done prior to installation.

Happy enough with my 280mm that was bought last year, although it certainly didn't take 5 washes to get it clean and gives great temps.

Try cleaning out the car heat exchangers, that's what I started with.

I agree it's not a massive issue and radiators should always be flushed out regardless, I just think it looks bad on the manufacturers to send any product out for sale in such an awful state. Any new product that requires 8 washes to make it usable is, to me at least, not something I would ever buy again.
