Hi,

My sister left her phone in the kitchen on the hotplate part of the stove and it was then accidentally switched on by someone and her phone has melted severely :(

That's a minor, can always buy a new one, the problem is the data - she has all her memories on there from our grandparents to the babies videos and my wedding etc. and I can't see anyway to recover them.

Her dropbox filled up a while ago so no backup anywhere.

The silly s6 has no SD card.

The phone will not boot, the battery almost exploded.

It is not recognised when connecting to a PC.

Is there any hope at all? :(

Are there companies who will be able to recover the internal data at all? Any advice would be apprecaited.

Thanks all

It could possibly be that the battery is dead and thats why it doesn't boot? It may be worth trying a new battery if the rest of the insides look okish

Thanks. Battery isn't a removable one but I'll see what I can do.

I'm thinking something more specialist is definitely the answer, does anyone know of a company who can do such things?

Thanks

If encrypted answer is immediately it's game over.
If it's not then it might be possible with complete disassembly. Battery is now likely close to an un-exploded bomb considering the heat you exposed it to, I would highly advise against plugging it in. As you need physical recovery (eg you have fried something bad) I'd imagine the cost will be close to 4 figures, likely won't include replacement parts.

Thanks :) not sure what encryption would be on there. I have asked her to check her google account, where do you check your back up? via gmail?

Do you know any companies who perform these data recoveries?

Thanks all :)

If it were me I'd be contacting http://smartphone.recoverfab.com/

For such specialist work this guy is actually very cheap. I've read of many people who have used the (SD card) service successfully. I tried sending him a uSD that I was having trouble with but unfortunately the memory chip was physically damaged - The flip side is that this meant I was able to ascertain this without wasting any of my own time and without charge as there is only a charge if data is successfully recovered (and after he's sent samples to confirm as such).

Might be worth a try...

when I had my Samsung it used to back my pictures up to my google drive without asking so this might be worth a look.

also get another Samsung phone and get her to sign in with her gmail account it might back up her pics straight away. mines done that when I went from my s3 to the s4

Thanks all. She's found the majority of her stuff on Google drive :) nothing from the last month however but better than nothing :)

Google photos is empty which is a shame.

Thanks for the link, I will give them a call and see what they say, that is really appreciated :)

Our current mission is trying to recover her call log to obtain the solicitors number for the house she's offered on who called and left a voice mail yesterday - unfortunately can't access voice mail from another phone without it being set up before hand so gonna have to wait until we get her another sim and phone.

Ah the joys of technology :)

Thanks for the help everyone, appreciated :)

Phone up your network via the outside line, pass the checks then get your voicemail password reset. Other options - network depending, the number will be on her bill right now if it was a dial out, ask the CSR for the last calls made (they can see current monthly events).

Don't understand why people don't make backups of important photos/docs, can cause so much heartbreak over something so simple. With all the free cloud storage these days there is no excuse! First thing i do on new phones for myself and relatives is set up automated backups.

Hey, yeh but when we do that it's a catch 22 "you haven't set up voicemail to work externally, we will send you a PIN via text" which goes to the SIM which doesn't work haha

Unfortuantley it was an incoming call, Voda said they only log outgoing calls and they can only see the last 4 digits or something like that.

Either way, didn't help.

My sister managed to get a new SIM today, just need to grab her a cheap phone to throw it in, in the mean time.

Thanks all :)
