Double posting but felt it's worth it. I spoke to a few Corsair guys to get more info on this. The mounting was reworked to include some countersunk screws and removal of some bits in the exterior so as to not hit capacitors that some motherboards have close to the socket. That's part of the increased compatibility but nothing Skylake specific, more to counter against motherboard makers that like to test ITX and ATX layout specs.
As far as the pump goes, no change in the components or control mechanism so it is not changing in performance or noise. The firmware was updated so pump settings (especially set from Corsair Link) was stored for faster access.
No change in the cold plates.
