This is purely to vent,

While kitesurfing yesterday a friend of mine had an accident which resulted in him hitting a sea wall and over time he lost consciousness and despite the best care he could get he succumbed to his injuries.

I was there, watching him having chest compressions, watching them force air into him. having to ID him for the police so they can take his body away. It's been the most horrific 24 hours of my life. I watched my mother die in 2007 but this was so much more brutal. If anyone has ever seen chest compression in real life you will know it is nothing like the movies.

when the doctor came to me and said it was over, my heart broke.

I am lost and can't come to terms with it yet.

So sorry to hear that. You have my heartfelt condolences. :(

Try to spend as little time as possible by yourself.

So sorry to hear this!

Its too early to really say much other than that, but make sure you get your head around everything, don't be afraid to cry and make sure you talk about it with loved ones, don't bottle anything up.

I saw this on the news. He had the best care, I believe, including the RNLI who were "luckily" out on a training session I think.

Tragic accident, RIP :(

Sorry to read this, you're doing the right thing talking about it. Better not to bottle up your feelings, if you feel you need more support during this time it's best to seek it out.

My sincere condolences for your friend.

That was a hard thread to read, and I'm sure an emotional one to write up :(

I'm so sorry to hear the bad news :(

MY thoughts and condolences are with you and his family.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

I lost my best mate 30 years ago this year to a horrible car accident. Time heals and makes things easier but i never quite got over it and he's never far from my thoughts.

My sincere condolences.

The care he got was amazing. Everyone who could have been there to help was there. Air ambulance, road ambulance etc.

the NHS are amazing. they really are.

Christ sorry to hear that - must have been awful to witness it, I can't even begin to imagine what that would have been like for you.

as others said - spend as little time alone as possible and talk to family/friends, don't bottle it all up. if you can't, even just posting up and talking to folks here might help a bit, get it all off your chest if you need.

Sorry to hear that man, I have no words that would help but others have given some good advice.

So sorry for your loss.

I have had to perform chest compressions before on an old lady I found who had stopped breathing. Nothing like what is on TV and film, but because I did not know this lady I guess the feeling of attachment was not there, I just did not want her to die. Unsure on how I would feel if it was a friend in front of me.
