Hi All,

Please help, I have an itch but can you help me work out what the best route upgrade to take????

I have the GTX770 sli setup with a AsusVE278HE @144Hz monitor @ 1080p and playing BF4 is great have to say.
BUT the noise on the 770's is getting me down a bit lol plus playing GF Auto V on my 2 gig cards stutter some what :(

So my ponder is *I would like to go up in screen res i.e 1440p plus have Gsync * or do I upgrade my graphics for the 980Ti?? yes would be great to do both at the same time but no way can I achieve that.

Is there a better benefit in upgrading the card first or the monitor??

Run DSR@1440p and see if frames are enough with what you have now=see if it's good enough for you(most like spending everyone elses money and no doubt say get the 980ti your cards aren't good enough for 1440p).

If your realistic with settings it'll probably still look good.

Probably against the grain but I'd say G-Sync and run SweetFx instead of MSAA with apropriate settings until you can go for a new gpu, 980ti is a big outlay this late in the game as it's due replacing.

Very good idea to run DSR I've never used it, is it in the Nvidia driver??

my thoughts go back and forth one minute it's GPU then it's replace screen :)

I will try DSR tonight and report back thanks tommybhoy

Cool looked at some vids will do this tonight.

Actually Tommy what are your thoughts on Gsync? especially as I'm already running a 120/144hz monitor?

It's completely game dependent but you might find you struggle with 2GB VRAM at 1440p. I did with my 680, it was powerful enough for games to look pretty at 60fps but it rode the line at 2GB utilisation and framerate hitches were common. This was in mid 2014. I upgraded to a 780 and it was perfect for the res and I'd still have it now if I didn't like the OG titan so much. To clarify I upgraded not for the VRAM but for the name.

Another vote for 1440p gsync from me. Any frame rate hitches you suffer from the upgrade in resolution should hopefully be well covered by the variable refresh rate.

As suggested by a lot of others I'd do the screen first and lower settings as needed while saving up for a new gpu which will hopefully allow enough time for the die shrink choices to appear.
