Hi

I'm planning to build a new master computer mainly for editing in Lightroom and Photoshop but also intended for normal office and surfing internet.
What do you think about my pick list below?
Any suggestions, tips or recommendations appreciated.

Intel Core i7 4790K 4 GHz 8MB
ASUS GeForce GTX 960 4GB STRIX DC2 OC
Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 CL10 1600Mhz VENGEANCE L...
Samsung 850-Series PRO 512GB
WD Red 6TB IntelliPower 64MB
Asus X99-A/USB 3.1
EVGA Supernova G2 850W
Fractal Design Define R5 Black
BenQ 27" SW2700PT
Keyboard SteelSeries Apex

The only things I'd be cautious about are the monitor and GPU. You won't get 10-bit output from a GTX 960, so it's a case of either going for a workstation graphics card (Quadro or FirePro) or an 8-bit monitor. Unless you're pro with an end to end colour managed workflow, you're unlikely to notice difference between 8-bit and 10-bit colour.

Thanks for the input - really good to know!
And I have understood that Lightroom doesn't support 10-bit as well.

Have to consider either another monitor or graphics card, hmmm
and Lightroom not supporting it.

Any suggestions for a compatible and good 8-bit monitor replacing my first choice Benq?

One thing that you will need to change up is the Mobo or the CPU.

The selection you've made is incompatible. You may want to consider an I7 5820k for the additional cores if you want to stay with the X99 mobo. If you do then you would also need to look for DDR4 ram and not the DDR3 you've selected.

I use my system for gaming (see sig), but also Lightroom/Photoshop editing and it tears through anything I throw at it.
