**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Jesus Christ, Evel Knievel in the house here lads

Lol, they wouldnt be far behind the fronts - there's just a bit too much tread on them to warrant binning them quite yet.

I was surprised how bad they are supposed to be for a premium brand - on the rear of a FWD car you don't get much of an impression of what they're doing and I've not been pushing the car since I've had it (ABS fault being fixed tomorrow :))

Pilot Super Sports are on the same level as the F1s (even better, IMO). Pilot Sport 3 and 4s aren't like the old PS2s, which were UHP tyres like SportContacts and Goodyear F1s.

Going from the article in the current Evo the new PS4 is essentially the new PSS, so a proper UHP tyre.

I had two new tyres put on my A3 Saturday, tyre pressure warning light came on Sunday morning, went to check them to find nearside front was 41 PSI and offside front was 33 PSI.

Is there any actual difference between AO and MO tyres?

not 100% accurate.

MPS4 fits into the market for 17" & 18" applications. This is an area not covered by a current Michelin UHP before as PSS have limited applications below 19".

The MPSS is still their flagship tyre. The PS4 uses a lot of the same technologies [the PSS has been out a good while now] and is orientated to perform similarly [which it does] for smaller wheeled cars.

I need new tyres on my S-Max and have noticed 'tyresonthedrive' ... anyone used these? They have quite an impressive trust pilot but I'm a bit weary of these "we come to you" places.

If anyone could recommend some tyres as well as I'm going through the process of trying to establish what's hot and what's not.

Profile is 245/45/R18 which I need in 98XL load.

I use totd all the time as I get a discount through my work. Really professional outfit, great service every time.

Ah I see. Is the MPSS "bad" in the wet or is it just not as good in the wet as others, but better in the dry? I loved the old GSD3's on my MX5 back in the day.
MPSSs are chuffing excellent in the wet, but apparently not quite as chuffing excellent as others. I had wheel spin in 2nd for the first time with my MPSSs. It was on a notorious greasy road, but I was still surprised. Mythical status failed. Or perhaps nothing can handle the diesel torxxxx.

MPSS? :p
Total overkill for an smax but they last longer. Do the maths :)

Just spotted a small bulge on the sidewall of one of my front tyres (Conti PremiumContact5 215/55R16 93H) - Both fronts look reasonably new and still have 6mm, so am I correct in thinking replacing one will be ok?

Also is there any issue with fitting a "W" rated tyre, as availability is sooner (and is slightly cheaper)

My local tyre fitter is able to get a H rated one for within a couple of quid of blackcircles anyway, so have just gone for replacing a single tyre.
