Hi all,
Long story short, 2012 3 Series N20 320i went in to BMW on the 4th Jan this year to diagnose a horrible whine relative to revs. After 2 months of diagnosing, engine out, engine in and back out again they finally handed back the keys this afternoon and let me on my way with it all "fixed" and they picked up the bill (warranty).
On the drive home the car felt rough, whilst the power was all there, I definitely noticed a strong vibration and loud noise. Decided to go for a nice long 60 mile drive since its been on the ramp so long. The noise and vibration has improved slightly but definitely lacks the smoothness of before.
The issue only presents above 2.5k RPM and gets progressively worse up the range.
Full list of parts replaced -
Turbo
Timing Chain & Guides
Oil Pump assembly.
I have reaearched a bit and it seems the balance shafts on this engine are integral to the oil pump. This seems like an obvious diagnosis and symptoms would seem correct as the engine indeed feels unbalanced like a brick in a washing machine.
My question for the resident gurus here is, do you think this will be part of the new part "bedding in" or should it go straight back with a suspected faulty new part?

R - Car in dealer for 2 months still sounds & feels like a bag of nails...
