The evil within isn't a well optimised game, but just put it on for a few seconds and the fps while not juttery was reading 23 where as the 750 was high 20s or in the 30s, I did install a driver so I assume the card is all set up now, so is this what to expect from an old card like this?

BF4 for the couples minutes I played in a not so built up area was reading between 44-55fps and seemed more smoother than my 750 was despite frames were going from like the same frame but to around 70-80 as max, all on the same settings, doing an update for SWBF so can't test that yet.

You know I didn't even think to check that lol, I run a single monitor now instead of the 2(PC downstairs while Xbox upstairs) where I normally would have m the graph up, so I best get that up and running.

I just thought I'd try afterburner and upped the bottom clocks from 850 to 900 just to see what 50mhz does and the other from 2052 or something to 2100 and so far haven't seen much improvement in BF4?? Unless it's just me but the game looks smoother than it did with the 750 regardless lol

What CPU is that with? i7s and some other CPUs with hyper-threading support can be a bit stuttery in BF4 at higher framerates unless you do the disabling core parking thing.

My laptop has what is essentially a cut down desktop 560 but I've got it overclocked to closer to 570 performance - does around 40-50fps with medium settings in BF4 - maybe a little more if I tried it with more recent patches/nVidia drivers as its been awhile since I ran BF4 on it. Still does OK for 1080p gaming aslong as I've careful with what settings I use - some stuff can get away with high while other settings have to be medium or low.

Gpu load is at 99% and I'm only in the paused menu of BF4, I know it's not the evil within, but I fancied a few games of battlefield, I will update with the result shortly.

On the subject of BF4, does this game actually use more than 1gb vram? According to what I'm seeing on the sensors it varies between 978-1015mb and the card only a 1gb, but I do have 4gb total available for my system.

Edit: actually it's not staying around the 90-100% it seems during actual play it does low at a very rare 28% and just before I died it was at 36%? That's not good is it?

Depends on settings - medium settings use about 700MB IIRC (might be wrong on that as its been awhile) but will use upto approx max VRAM minus 50MB or so to cache data, etc. for performance reasons. With ultra settings you can easily use well over 1GB of VRAM.

Didn't see you reply before I posted..

Is a i3 4160

I get between 44-55 fps on high and with the overclock I done it can touch 60, more so right now as I have it in window mode.

With my 750 I could ultra this game just fine, it was Pretry much where this 560 has put me on high lol and that's in full screen 1920x1080@60hz.

I did go in to the 30's on ultra, but that setting wasn't worth it over high.

Window mode in quiet scenes I go as high as 93fps with the 560 on high, but window mode is only good for tests in my eyes.

Unfortunately I've not played it on the laptop with any of the recent updates so my knowledge is a bit out of date on how it runs on Fermi based cards.

I see you have another thread in the CPU section contemplating an i5 upgrade. Don't do it unless you have the money for a new GPU as well. If you have to choose one or the other, spend it on a new GPU and keep the i3.

Surprised how well that plays.
Your biggest problem is your limited VRAM at 1GB, the step up to 2GB is huge.
And GPU at 100% means you're GPU limited so it's the right component to buy first.
A newer GPU should be quieter too.

Ha well you see that was meant to be the point, I sold my 750 hoping to get a 270 as I got them to lower the price, but something ate in to the budget so I went for the best card I could find as quickly as I could for £40 :(, I am however watching on the bay a evga 570hd and a xfx 7870, both currently under £25 with 6hrs for the 570 and till tomorrow night for the Radeon, There is even a vtx3d 270x on the auction with 2h44m and currently on £51 which obviously will rise, all cards are meant to be delivered in the week however I don't think I could sell the 560 quick enough and high enough to buy either.

I was going to bid on a 7750 as it ends in 2h47m and currently at £18 on a single bid, but unless I could get it for that or £20 then it's a downgrade either way.

As for the processor, well I figured the gpu didn't go to plan and was a faff I figured I would just make do and look at saving for a i5 be it a locked one then bother with the graphics later.

This was the same story with my 750 apart from I could get up to around 70-80 in fullscreen, but while my connection is iffy now I moved computer it does effect game play, but the game looks smoother I think with the 560?? Oh and the video is with the overclock.

I noticed that I haven't limited fraps I don't think for video but in fullscreen it was recording under 20fps maybe little over and in window mode it stayed at 30.

Edit: and yeah that was the reason for the 270 because of vram and being better, I wish I had proper space for a 7950 as that was only a fiver more than the 560 :|

Ha yeah I get ya, I was looking at a 950 but too much, 270 seems to be the best going unless I find a x version or 7950/7970..

Oh and just a quick update, I couldn't properly see the stats when in evil within, but either with little OC it still stays around 23-25 with the odd times touching 30 still being as smooth as it can and after a quick look(window mode is useless) it went upto 1020mhz then down to normal and didn't seem that bad.

Also I have just started rainbow 6 seige, only offline and on ultra setting despite the game showing what looks like over 2gb vram required, intro videos were at 59/60fps(as though it was locked)with little stutter and actual game play is varying from 23-30 with only slight stutter, but looks amazing and very playable so far. Actually this only very so slightly starting going over 30fps while in action then back under 30 above 25
