Just watched, The Hateful Eight, thought it was pretty meh, another semi pretentious attempt at being deep and arty, it's really just a bit boring really, any professional movie critics here?

He has done some utterly brilliant films and some average films. I don't think he's done a particularly bad one.

I don't think its his best movie but it is a well direct movie.

And yes, he is one of the better directors alive today.

I liked Dogs, Fiction and Bill 1 but the rest have been varying degrees of meh for me. Not seen His latest yet.

Not a big fan of anything he's done.

+1, although in my case, nothing to with his style, just think the films are massively over-hyped. Reservoir Dogs was ok, Pulp Fiction was overrated, disliked both Kill Bills, and stopped watching Django after about 20 minutes.

Pulp Fiction is a masterpiece and my favourite of his by a fair margin. It has been in my top five films since its release. I've yet to see The Hateful Eight and am not that compelled to do so at this time, though I felt the same with Kill Bill but ended up loving it.. I've seen so many long films recently I just couldn't stomach another one.

So Tarantino = 'yay' He can't win every time, but he's undeniably interesting.

Can't say I'm much of a fan, I remember renting out Pulp Fiction back in the day with high expectations and coming away very "meh".

But I do love me some Kill Bill.

The mere fact he is an auteur renders any opinion futile.

In film criticism, auteur theory holds that a film reflects the director's personal creative vision, as if they were the primary "auteur" (the French word for "author").

How is it irrelevant whether we like him or not?
You're not makling sense.
