Looking for some 140mm fans to cool my 280mm radiator, looking for either black, white or black and white fans.

Case is a fractal define S if that makes any difference on your opinions

Thanks, Alex

I have just changed my 110i stock fans to Noctua NF A14 Linus techtips edition fans and the difference is amazing. They are incredibly quiet on the same profile as the stock fans and they are much better at cooling on the same profile. My Realbench test results showed a max of 72 degrees for the stock fans and just 45 degrees for the Noctuas.

Once I got rid of the rubber orange corner pieces they are all black rather than the usual Noctua brown/beige/weird colour scheme (these Austrians are a strange lot).

I couldn't believe how quiet they were and the difference they made to temps. I keep wondering if it is a fluke but the results stay the same.
My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £22.73
(includes shipping: £2.74)

I think you may have made a "slight" mistake as under no circumstances would you see a 27 degree drop, unless your half baking the story.

Why exactly would I 'half bake' the story?

I got the fans, fitted them as the Corsair fans were fitted and ran the same stress tests that I used before. I would assume that the drop in temps could be due to a range of factors, probably mainly due to the ambient room temperature, but there is no doubt that the Noctua fans are quieter, and based on the readings seem to keep the cpu cooler than before.

Sorry, but I have to agree. I'm a big noctua fan and use 4 of them of them in my gaming rig myself, and ive been experimenting with lots of different brands of fans over the last month.......

There's just no way in the world you'd see a 27 degree drop, at the same RPM, unless you'd moved your entire room into a freezer. In fact at any rpm you wouldn't see that percentage drop, unless your previous fans were barely moving or faulty. You've missed something somewhere in your measurements or testing strategy bud, sorry.

I had slightly better results with Noctuas @ 1300 RPM than with H100i stock fans @ 2000 RPM, so I know where you are coming from. To be fair, the Noctuas were 150mm compared to 120mm's (I know they don't fit properly on a H100i but I went with it for a time).

Switched to Phanteks MP 120mm (max 1500 RPM or so) and also got better results noise and cooling-wise than the stock fans. Wouldn't hesitate to buy and try the 140mm variety of these.

There's probably cheaper ones just as good but the Phanteks (or Noctuas and some others) come with a nice warranty.

While Nocs are good fans, they are not what 'Noc cultists' make them out to be. Some are very good, but their prices are crazy high compared to others that perform just as good.

I've been using a couple of PH-F140MP on my Cryorig A-80 and am impressed. Easily as good as stock fans and PH-F140SP .. I'm not ready to say they are way better just yet. The extra couple of quid for PWM is worth it to me. ;)

PH-F140MP £12.95-13.99

At OCUK we like SIlverstone Fans designed specifically for water cooling Rads with high static pressure low noise.

EK Vaders are very good but are expensive.

For my AIO coolers I often use for testing I use Noise Blockers these are a top level low priice performer.

It's not just performance you're paying for, though.
It's the performance vs quietness, along with the included accessories and the six year warranty.
If you want cheaper, the Redux fan-only package is pretty good.

Plenty of fans perform as well/better than Noctuas, but they're usually not as quiet with it.
EK Varders are pretty good for the most part, along with NB eLoop fans, but certainly the EKs seem to deteriorate quite quickly. I haven't enquired yet, but a few friends are thinking of sending theirs back after less than a year.

I hear good about Silverstones, too. The cheap ones are certainly very good for the price.

So, I love me some fans.

You are going to want a fan that has good pressure, not necessarily the best CFM. The angle of the fans has a strong impact on just how much static pressure the fan exerts, as a radiator offers a greater amount of resistance.

I don't have a 140mm recommendation, but the Scythe Kaze Ultra 120mm is really strong for static pressure.

My vardars have held up okay. I have 7 in my case and 6 are fine. 1 rattles a bit at start up for a few minutes but runs fine after that, the bearing will probably fail eventually though. Those are 120mm ff5,s
