Battery operated 'motor' for wiring behind a picture

Hi all, bear with me whilst I explain this one.

I have a painting in my room which has standard electrical cables connected to a light switch (which is where it is operated on/off from).

I am changing the location of the painting but don't want to be cutting or drilling to get wires in. Is there anyway I could connect the painting's cables through some sort of 'motor' and it has some wireless capabilities for a switch, or even if it had an on/off switch on the motor?

Hope I've made sense. And thanks in advance.

I have no answers, but I'm intrigued. A painting with an on/off switch for the lights..?

yep, should've mentioned that is one of those paintings when you switch it on it has a background light and makes the image appear as though it is moving. In this case it makes the water seem as though it is rippling. :)

So where is the switch at the moment? Built into your wall with the cables chased into the wall?

Yup. It is wired into an electric (AC) cable which is directly run to the light switch for the room. Basically a standard electric cable (earth & live). So the light switch is THE switch for it.

I want to eliminate the use of any wiring for where I can planning on moving it to hence just want to have some alternative power supply.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you're asking for

Light switch -> wireless transmitter -> wireless receiver -> photo frame

The wireless transmitter (motor?) transmitting mains power?

That isn't going to happen!

Your post is nigh on impossible to comprehend. Please take the time to properly explain what you have currently and what you are trying to achieve then people may be able to help you. If it's difficult to explain then take some photos and annotate what you are trying to do.

Yep, what you do with those is carefully unhook it from the wall, and then throw it violently into the bin :)

It won't get you into Homes and Gardens, but it will get you a darn sight closer.

I think what you're trying to do is wirelessly transmit electrical power?

How do you think the power for your picture is going to get to your new location without running a wire to it?

If you're thinking of plugging in the picture somewhere else then so it has power but then want to know how to use the existing switch to turn it on and off then we might (just might) be able to help.

Alternatively, attach a big motor to it and post the video of your picture spinning around.

If you don't have anything constructive to say, don't say anything at all. I'm sure you have better things to do in your Home of the Year, each to their own eh? :o

Obviously (and unfortunately) I haven't explained myself well. I will attach pictures and diagrams to explain myself further.

At no point though have I mentioned wirelessly transmitting power. I speak of converting the power to transmit from a battery powered motor.

Anyway, thanks for the link valve90210, think I might just have to wait for the wireless electricity after all eh?!

Hold up. I don't think anybody, except maybe Bitslice (:p), has been unreasonable. We're trying to guess what it is you require from your description.

Just so we're clear too, a motor turns something. At the moment, I'm struggling to see how a turning motor helps with a picture on the wall. I presume you mean something else but at present, nobody knows what this item is. The bit in green above is the bit that nobody is getting.

Is it not liek one of them olde worlde electric fires?

2 red bulbs in the bottom with 2 flimsy slices of metal (think spiraly shaped) above with splits in them.
They slowly spin giving the illusion of a "real flame" due to the red light appearing to flickering as the metal passes over them?

Flip it sideways, slap a blue light behind it, stick a small motor into the frame, place a thin printed image of water on top, moving water!

battery power or new wiring
