Power-crazed mods as usual :p

In other news, I'm still waiting on my new wheels. The clickety clacking of the front wheel at the moment is driving me crazy.

Backpack currently and get a sweaty back, I get one anyway so it's no biggie for me. Although I will try panniers at some point...

Land of Hops & Glory sportive I'm riding on the 10th April has it's route announced. I've roughly plotted it into RWGPS to get a better view - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/12419956

I know most of the roads except the route through and around Malvern where The Wyche climb is, weirdly the Sportive doesn't climb it the popular way (which the ToB used as a KOM). Nor does it do the popular climb to British Camp to the south. Weird!

I'll be riding out to the start point (12 miles) then the Sportive (around 57) to put me near 70 miles and well past my first metric (with over 4000ft climbing)! :)

Really need to get a couple of 45+ mile rides in my legs before then...

Chinese wheels, huh? :rolleyes::p

Mine has a pothole/works map which is so inaccurate and full of bogus data it's a wonder they get any work done. Oh wait, they don't!

Just taking a look online on how to report, it seems that every council/local authority have their own way of reporting them.

It cant be that hard to centralise it now via a universal front end like a phone app.
Locate a pothole cycling,
Create new report
take picture,
severity and dimensions of said pothole.
App captures GPS coordinates.
submit.

It could automatically submit to the ‘local authority’ responsible and I wouldn’t have the hassle of trying to remember when back at home.

That would be too simple and involve too much common sense though wouldn’t it.

There was talk of an app which did this but I can't recall where I saw it... Anyone remember it?

Beast^mode!

Let me know how your wheels are doing 7,000 miles in :p

Ok, np! ;)
I'll only be on my 3rd set of bearings by then...

That's actually the slightly weird thing about these wheels. The bearings are still good as new and bearings are meant to be the one thing that you often get really cack results with when you buy Chinese carbon wheels.

I've got over 8k on my khamsins... rear is still good, front is still good..

not a single spoke changed, not a single rebuild literally put them on and leave.. well, the breaking surface is gone :o

So I started some research into power meters: Damn, it's a minefield! Even DCRainmaker's through guide hasn't made it easier!

Also: Looking for a recommendation on some new wheels. I want to be able to choose between 23s and 25s on my Tarmac (assuming I have clearance for the 25s) and I want to replace the wheels that came with it. Any good recommendations, and why are stock wheels going to be better than some custom made from someone like Wheelsmith?

I'm probably going to get a power meter in a few months, and I'm looking at stages of powertap c1.

Stages is definitely up there. Pioneer is another option, but I'm not sure if the option to upgrade to proper left/right is worth it...

PowerTap C1 looks nice, just all the chainring options confuse the hell out of me! I might be better sticking with a Stages!

Powertap C1 or Power2Max would be my choice. P2M is often available quite cheaply and also supports more options for front rings - the C1 means that you can't have anything smaller than 36T on your front chainrings.

I did not know this Sportive existed. Think I am going to sign up!

Oh little Roady. Look at him now. I remember him when he first came to these parts with his 4 mi commute. And now look, like a flourishing butterfly, 70 miles, no problem! :D

P2M seems like a better option then. Then it's just sorting what cranks are good and what chainrings are good...

So complicated. Which is why I like the Stages.

I'm assuming there's no issues with using P2M with Di2 if I want that in the future?

Wouldn't touch a Stages after hearing/seeing all the issues that comes with them. Just a pain in the bum, you want your PM to work and be hassle free as possible.

Garmin Vector, don't rule it out. The Vector S is one side only and in around the same price range as Pioneer and C1. Looking on eBay there is good second hand options also and swapping around pedal based PM I truly think is probably the most convinient of the options really.

No issues with Di2, it's crank based no limiting factor or issue with Di2.
The chainrings is not as complicated as it seems, just need establish how many teeth you want on your rings at the front (probably compact?) and then look at price/compat with rest of your groupset really, it's not so hard, us muppets in here can help you easily get to the right decision :D

Haha ace. I guess the other bit that's confusing me with P2M is the cranks. I can't use Shimano cranks, so would need to find something else that's good/I like etc. Lots of options!

Rotor 3D+ is what I would be looking at, I really quite fancy one, but I am poor :p
