Anyone got a Santander 123?

My only gripe is the iOS app as it could do with Touch ID for login. Apart from that I'm very happy with my 123 account.

Both my partner and I have a 123 account and have our mortgage with Santander. Always found them excellent and 3% (untaxed from April for the vast majority as well) interest on £20k is fantastic.

My wife and I each have a 123 account, purely for the 3% interest. Should probably move the DD's there as well but I don't want to keep everything in one place.

I'm just moving all of my accounts (personal and business) away from Santander after being with them for around 5 years. Since about September or so, their fraud/security system has turned into something that makes using my accounts a complete chore. Up until then I was happy but I can't wait to see the back of them. From personal experience, the only thing they're good for now is high interest on their current account.

My wife has a business account with them and it is an absolute mare as you say with the fraud/security system.

They were also very difficult when it came to getting a mortgage through them, had it not been for the fact that I could get the best rate with them I'd have gone elsewhere.

I've been with Santander for almost a year now. It's good and the customer service has been great.

No issue at all.

Previously I was with Halifax earning £60 a year interest. (£5 a month) Now I get £400 clear interest after tax is deducted with Santander.

It's well worth it.

You can have more than 1 Santander 123 Current Account no problem. The question is weather they both qualify for the 3% interest? I'm pretty sure their T&Cs mean only 1 personal and 1 joint account will, any more beyond that will not earn interest (but will still cost you the £5 a month fee).

I have multiple S123 accounts and they all pay interest as they should. You need to ensure that you fund each account externally with £500 (cycle it through, there is clearly no point in a balance on each account exceeding £20k) and maintain 2 active direct debits on each one as well.

Its a pain, but there are few instant access options at the moment.

Which goes towards a holiday or a new gadget.

Still waiting to hear where I can get better than 3% on £20k!

I make about £4.30 in cashback per month from direct debit bills which nearly negates the account fee completely.

I moved part of my mortgage deposit to my Santander 123 account and all my direct debits over to it and getting a little less than £50/mo interest, minus the fee. They're great - had my first experience with their fraud department last week which was fully automated (just had to 'talk' to the automatic computer thing to confirm details and some transactions) and sorted in about 2 minutes.

How do you do this?

Surely if you try to set up another account you need to provide address details etc. At this point they say, "Ah, Mr Jez, you appear to already have a current account with us..."

Or doesn't that happen?

Thanks

Hussman

When I signed up for my 2nd account I did it while logged into online banking and it had no issue. Added the 2nd account to my online banking account without saying a word.

Indeed, on the right hand banner within your OLB you can start a new account application. Fill in all of the details as usual, select a 123 current account, and it opens it instantly. My experience is exactly as per Mr Redgie's below :)

I am with santander for current account, credit card and mortgage. Mortgage gets £8 cashback a month on its own. Total cashback around £30 a month, £5 fee so £25 a month. Credit card makes between £5 and £10 a month cashback £3 fee. The credit card used to be much better, but they cut the cashback a lot this year, as in capped it rather than cut it I should say.

Been with them nearly 4 years, no issues.
