What have you done to your car today?

Question for OcUK: What colour should I paint my replacement calipers? My current ones are red however I'm really tempted to paint them silver to match the car, thoughts? Here's how it currently looks for reference...

Went with red in the end, DS2500's came today too  can't wait to get them fitted and have proper pedal feel again!

Red looks good on the car, nice contrast :)

The DS2500s, stock calipers + ST170 carriers and 300mm upsized discs was an immense setup on my old Fiesta ST, the best brakes on any car I've had tbh!

If the tints are aftermarket (assuming they are) and they haven't been declared to the insurance company then yes, the insurance would be void.

not necessarily - insurance isn't always instantly void due to anything undeclared, but it could cause it to be void

It wouldn't be void. At worst, you'd have to pay the premium difference plus a surcharge. Insurance companies will only void policies in extreme cases of misrepresentation.

Private plate off (again). Ready to let the car go if it sells at dealer auction. If it doesn't I'll have to whack it on ebay.

EDIT: Just got confirmation mail from Admiral, in the email it states

"IMPORTANT:

Should your car be written off or stolen we offer market value on your car."

Funny that.. They didn't want to for my last car :p

Just been told my car qualifies for a free set of Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres.

Jaguar have found an issue with the factory fitted P-Zeros and the effect on the MPG on the 2.2D models fitted with 18" wheels. So called up to check if that was the case and told it is, so just awaiting them to come in stock so I can have them fitted.

Happy days as I needed to replace mine soon!

Just had both front and rear discs and pads replaced including sensors. Oil change, micro filter and oil filter, air filter and pollen filter. Down pipe clamp replaced and bleed nipple repalced as the old one had rounded Also managed to get £300 discount from BMW dealership :D

Not strictly to the car itself, but changed my insurance to cover 20,000 miles per year due to a new job role... (5000 miles regular commute, 10,000 miles business, 5000 miles personal)

20K a year in a T-Sport should be interesting... Its not bad on fuel but its quite noisy... :p

But the 10,000 miles are being paid at 45p per mile... :D

How much extra?

New car today!

It'll be fine :) I did 50k in one year in a 1.6 MK7 Fiesta which was fine but it's pretty bad for road noise with 17" wheels and low profile tyres. Other than that though it was decent enough.

Insurance on the mileage front is pretty weird for me. A few years ago it did make quite a difference to my premium but these days I declare 35,000-40,000 miles. The difference between declaring up to 40k and even 12k is only about 50 quid over the year for me now.

How much extra?

Going up from £86 a month to £110 a month... But in 4 months time I get my 3rd year of no claims (all being well) and I turn 21, so heres hoping it drops a fair bit. :)

Basically I now work one month in every three in London, and on those months I get paid £570 overtime for travel and £810 in fuel allowance.

Dividing that by three, subtracting insurance difference, and fuel cost, means I'm still about £375 a month - or £4500 a year - better off. :)
