Hi Guys

Such a wide choice

Nexus 5x
LG G4

I need 64gb space and enjoy taking lots of photos of the kids and family life

What would you opt for

Thanks

Mart

I found the camera on the 5X to be sublime

that said, you could get a galaxy s6 for £250 which also has a great camera (poop battery life though)

I don't think you could go wrong with either

Low light pictures are rubbish, plus a small itch to change after a year

If you find the low light pictures rubbish on what is generally regarded as a good all round camera, I doubt there's a phone out there that's going to wow you, particularly at £300. There might be something out there that offers an incremental improvement, but nothing that turns rubbish into acceptable.

The itch to change is another matter entirely of course.

You can't get the Z5 for that price as that's what I'd go for.

The Nexus 5x will be better picture wise, but you cannot get it at 64Gb.

The LG G4 and Nexus 6P are supposed to have one of the best cameras out there.

For a camera even a little better (in the grand scheme of things) you're looking at:

  • S7/S7 Edge - too expensive, but best camera (but seems to oversharpen, though it wouldn't bother me)
  • Nexus 6P - too big I'd guess, and too expensive, but great low light camera
  • Nexus 5X - only 32GB non-expandable, but same camera as the 6P (though IIRC no 4K video)
  • LG G4 - 32GB but with an SD card slot
  • S6 - camera will be slightly worse than the S7, but still at least on par with the iPhone

The LG G4 is probably your best bet if budget is important. Failing that probably the Galaxy S6 if the S7 is out of reach.

Camera on the iPhone 6 is fantastic. Yeah low light isn't great, but it's a mobile phone. Whilst phones with OIS are better and can let in more light, they are still grainy. I'd stick with what you've got personally.

Not quite. The Nexus 6P and the S7 has pushed the game on considerably when compared with the iPhone 6.

I've been using the iphone 6s for two weeks. The photos are nowhere near as good as my 5X

keep iphone and buy a camera for 300 quid including a large memory card?

surely there comes a point where a camera is going to give you better quality photos than your phone?
