I want to know is it possible to build a full skylake system for under £500 with everything inc keyboard and mouse. The system will be used for web, documents, movies etc maybe future upgrade for gpu but onboard will do for now.

P.S. would like a 27" monitor in that at 1440p.

Think I've made the budget a bit too tight. The build is for my brother he is used to my 27" so wanted to stick to something like that but maybe the drop in size will free up some cash for other bits.

24 inch 1080 p for £84 or 27 inch £149 whats your choice ?

Also would advise to get an ssd.

Are you going to build it ?

Strongly recommend dropping to to 1080p if you're thinking about gaming - 1440p needs some serious grunt to if you're targeting 60fps in AAA games. Definitely go for a cheap SSD for your boot drive too.

Ssd is not a good option at this price point, not for a desktop anyways, the op would need a 500gb ssd to make it worth while, this is why companies sell systems up to £500 even 600 with only a single hard drive unless there's an option to configure.

I only got a 1tb mech as my computer cost £475, but 2nd had drives are cheap, I picked up a 500gb Sata 2(nice that my board support both 2 and 3) for £15 and will get a 1tb for £22, it's better to have the storage than speed of it can only be one for the other.

Budget went up a bit as I plan to upgrade this rig in the future for gaming and reuse the cpu in a server build

Spec stands like this so far

i3 6100
Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7
Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4 2400MHz
Cooler Master G750M 750W Hybrid Modular
Fractal Design Define R5 White Window
25" iiyama XU2590HS-B1 AH-IPS
1tb hdd (used £22)
250 gb ssd (used £30)
Dell keyboard and mouse

Came to a total of £562

Will add new gpu and cpu later on

I know it's a bit high end low end atm but I think it's not bad for just over 550
