Kingdom Come Tech Alpha 0.4 Screens

Beautiful, enchanting and at times quite life like. I loved listening to the sounds of the birds chirping / countryside : rather therapeutic. Makes me wish I was there right now.

I wish there was a 3rd person camera view, as I don't get along with 1st person :( Damn motion sickness. I have managed to play the Bioshock games in the past so hopefully this won't make me nauseous.

Here are few more from beta

What is the draw distance like on the grass?

My main gripe with games like the Arma series was that the draw distance for grass was only a few hundred metres, so if you thought you were hidden lying down in it, you weren't.

Wow it does look wonderful. I did back this ages ago and forgot about it I'll have to figure out how to have a go on it.

I had been getting very poor fps with SLI 980ti, I need to check again. I'm not sure SLI is implemented yet.
Andi.

Just ran it up, 25-35 fps at high detail 2560x1440. Some odd things around the start point though!.

Was it not supposed to be released in the summer and was only pushed back a few days ago due to the publisher wanting them to release on consoles at the same time.

That was the official reason, but I have no doubt they are very happy with the extra time :)

Questions about this for those who are playing:

What sort of state is the gameplay in at the moment? Are the RPG elements in, e.g. character development, crafting etc?

What sort of character development is there - are you stuck being a melee/swordsman or can you choose to be e.g. a sneaky archer, or even a passive character like a merchant or crafter?

Is there any building in this? E.g. can you build yourself a nice little cottage somewhere? (Or a fortress :p) or am I more looking for something like Life is Feudal?

Very tempted by this - it does look stunning, although, I'm guessing the performance at 3440x1440 on a single GTX970 is going to leave a lot to be desired!! :p

Edit: hmm, current exchange rate puts this at £36... can't remember the last time I spent that much on a game, especially not in beta! If it was £20-25 I'd probably have picked it up, but £36 is a bit much for something that might not even get finished :/

Some RPG elements are in, not all. Unpolished combat is in, dialogues are in. You can be a swordfighter or archer or stealth guy or diplomat.
But this is not your standard early access - what is available in beta is only about 20% of the final game - they are not releasing whole game (in beta stage) because they do not want people to get spoiled the storyline. So it is basically a mix between beta and a very very large demo.
There is no building - this is a storydriven open world RPG, not minecraft (yes I know FO4 has building and it became worse game for it, in my opinion).

4K on 970 would probably be unplayable now, the game looks extremely good and is very demanding (but no optimization was done yet).

The probability of the game not getting finished is extremely low - this is a large AAA project made by a team of 80+ people with a wealthy investor behind it. Not your standard garage project by 3 people.

If you want to know more, I suggest perhaps reading this pretty good preview:

The guy then did a podcast here where he goes into more detail:

Wasn't necessarily looking for building on the scale of Minecraft/FO4, more just finding an empty spot e.g. in a forest somewhere and plonking down one of a selection of pre-made buildings to call home.

Watched your video where you fight the guy at the end - the combat does look interesting; relatively simple to get the hang of, but at the same time difficult to get "right".

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it as it looks like the kind of game I could easily lose hours to, but I think I might wait and see if it drops in price at some point.
