Tory who voted for student loan hike ‘lives in Help To Buy home with interest-free mortgage’

The best one for me is Iain Duncain Smith calling unemployed people scroungers (£70per week to live on) whilst claiming £39 on his expenses for a breakfast when he's getting an excellent wage and is probably a millionaire.

Or working a job is almost impossible to be sacked from in under 4 years whilst simultaneously pushing to end job security through ditching tribunals and allowing companies to sack without cause.

I wouldn't ordinarily comment but:

"Bone also bumps household income up by £45,000 through making his ‘executive secretary’ wife one of the highest paid MPs’ staffers in parliament."

Not too long ago MPs received an 11% pay rise and now they will be receiving more its just ridiculous. Most if not all MPs are on over £60-£70k a year.

You expect anything different from the old boy hand shakers network ?

Politicians should be on minimum wage, All they do is talk, Travel to a different building, Talk some more, Sign some bits of papers deciding other peoples lives, Travel to a different building and talk some more.

There is no reason they should be on the sickening amounts of money they are on.

Which is a stupidly low payment, for what they are meant to do. What CEO of even a small company gets paid so little. Maybe we would get a high class of mp if the okay was actually decent.
Ban them from carrying out other work, stop them employing who they want. Triple their pay at least. Make a minimum attendance for parliament. Remove reimbursements for food etc, wright that into their pay.. And so forth.

As to op, why would he and others use what's available. What kind of idiot wouldn't use such things.

I don't understand the second part of this comment? I admit that £39 is excessive (for an individual), but if he's working, therefore it is a business expense, what's the problem?

When I'm unable to use my kitchen or the office kitchen, i.e. working away or in a hotel, as a result of work related activities, I'll put breakfast through as a work expense. I think most people with an expense structure do the exact same. It's completely normal. The individuals salary is an irrelevant point.

If he put breakfast through as a work expense when he was actually not in work, then that's a different matter altogether.
