Regardless of what they say, IMO, this boils down to one thing.

The PIP reforms did not yield enough of a drop in disability payments as they thought would (most people are winning their appeals), and now with the tax credit u turn, the Tories need to find more money.

What better way to do it than to alter, and pretty much rig the points system to make even more disabled people ineligible for the top rate.

I can't believe I voted for this lot. I was never aware they would hammer the needy as much as they are doing. I suppose they need the extra money to help raise the 40% tax threshold.

If they'd all just tried harder then they could have inherited some wealth or been parachuted into a high paying job

Wouldn't it be good if there were an opposition party with a leader that had a cat in hell's chance of winning the election in 2020.

The price of student union politics entering the adult world.

Fewer takeaways for you :(.

;)

I don't spend any of it on takeaways. I use my matched betting income for that. My disability money is used to live and get around with, what's it's meant for. I can't believe I chose a 1.6 automatic Astra for my car. That alone is costing me £30-40+ a week in petrol. Diesel next time for me. 70+ mpg at least. All leisure activities are paid from matched betting income. But I shouldn't have to explain myself to you anyway.

This is what the Tory's do when they are in power but you knew that right?

They tried to stop my Mrs money, she has a lot of health problems a brain tumor being one of them and they thought your well enough to go back to work:mad::mad:

This shouldn't be surprising to anybody.

If concern for the most vulnerable members of society is high on your list of priorities voting for the conservatives is frankly idiotic or a case of cognitive dissonance.

I won't be voting for them again, their change on director dividends and landlord stamp duty had effeted me big style.

I honestly don't understand how anyone, even IDS, could do this to the most vulnerable in society. It's beyond comprehension. :(

whatever happened to
David Cameron has called for the nation to focus on mental health after a review revealed inadequate, underfunded care, leading to "thousands of tragic and unnecessary deaths".
not everyone on disability is physically disabled

This raised a sarcastic smile

The Department for Work and Pensions said that over the last six months there had been three legal judgements that had ruled a bed or chair could be classed as an aid or appliance if it helped someone get dressed or undressed.

Wait a minute. You voted Tory and din't know they'd hit the anyone claiming a state benefit?????????

Have you recently moved to the UK from Mars?

But I shouldn't have to explain myself to you anyway.

You're claiming a state benefit, you have to explain yourself to anyone paying tax. It's to make sure you're not one of the "undeserving poor" the Tories are intent on making an example of.

I never expected cuts to be this drastic.

As you say, i don't like the way many taxpayers feel like I owe them some kind of explanation and budget sheets.

I voted Tory because some of my views are centre-right, especially on benefits culture. That's despite the fact that I'm on the "lifetime" award for lower rate DLA. I do think though that the assessments for the changeover to PIP should have been carried out with medical professionals, not out-sourced Atos/Capita who knows nothing about you. GPs and secondary care will have access to medical files and will know that I'm blind in one eye, other eye is a -27 plus severe hearing loss and thus will never be allowed to drive. Medical staff will also know that my ailments are irreversible but Atos/Capita don't wanna know.

Problem is because they have shifted the emphasis from what conditions you have to how they affect you, they now firmly believe that reviews can be done without medical professionals in most cases. There has been numerous appeals where someone has been refused their claim and as soon as a medical professional has looked at it at the appeals stage, the decision has been reversed, which shows that the ATOS/Capita lot just don't have the required skills to make fair and accurate decisions.

Does that mean if i sit on the end of the bed to pull my steps on, i used to score two pomts, but under the changes i will only score one point, of the twelve I need for full funding?

Does this change of one point be actively reapplied to everyones rassessed points score, or do they plan to reassess everyone again? .

There aren't many people that I'd with a life changing disability on, but some of the current crop of Conservative politicians would probably have an eye opening experience that might be educational for them and their friends.

Mind you these are the same sort of people that think paying a disability benefit that is above starvation level is an incentive for people not to look for work, and who whilst they're merrily talking about making massive reductions in the income of the most vulnerable people are more than willing to vote themselves an above inflation pay rise, and claim £30+ for a breakfast.

Yes, pretty much.

I imagine current recipients will just receive the same rate until their reassessment comes round.

It doesn't really apply to me as I can undress and go to the toilet fine, it's other areas I need help with like cooking etc.

I am still annoyed though as it will affect thousands of people who need the help. Also, it's just indicative of the fact that the longer the Tories are in power, they will chip away at welfare bit by bit until there is virtually nothing left. Makes me wonder if it would be a bad thing if the EU took over the benefits system.
