OSSIC X: The first 3D audio headphones calibrated to you

I was well into the video until they said it had multiple drivers - no thanks.

I appreciate multiple drivers in IEMs because they are frequency based but all focus the sound output in the same place but any headphone that uses multiple small drivers that have to cover the full audio spectrum are never going to be able to sound as good as those with full sized high quality single drivers.

Yeah seen couple people on Headfi say this. But they also give there reason behind it. Sounds very clever
Each driver is fine tuned to the users ear to give a more life like sounding experience.
What I would like to know and this is the biggest reason I not backed it is does this effect the sound quality if its one thing I have learned is multi driver headphones are poor for sound quality.

That's the whole point I was getting at, when it comes to multi drivers that have to cover the whole audio spectrum, they can't possibly have the same sound quality as a single, larger driver that does the same. When it comes to high quality, well controlled bass, there is no substitute for a large driver, not including tuned bass ports because they are severely hampered by the small physical size of headphone cups.

multiple drivers vs large diaphragm stereo ones? I know which one I will pick. You should know better op, I thought you would have learned from your thread from 2 years ago. How time flies

I did but why make a thread on a product you know will be crap and even suggest that you considered backing it?

Because it's never been done before? The idea is great and some people like to try new tech. Let's not get carried away here and judge something we haven't tried and judge it based of some junk gaming headset..

Tbh am very keen on the idea surround sound works even on the roccat that I owned the problem like pointed out is how bad the audio quality is.

We can't comment on anything like that yet until they been tested.

I'm very skeptical about the claim that it's never been done before. SVS Realiser did it, reportedly near perfectly and works with any set of stereo headphones.

What interests me is that this is automated, where with the Realiser you would need to go to some trouble to have it calibrated.

The other thing is that this is relatively affordable - where as the Realiser is a couple of grand.

But yeah - I have reservations on the multiple driver approach. That's not to say it won't work but I'm just not sure that it's likely to be optimal or entirely necessary.

And the other thing is - my Victor SUDH1 with HD600s sounds so close to perfect to me (soundstage wise), that I'd be very surprised if a fully personally calibrated solution is significantly better for me.

Closed back?

Looks like snake oil to me with 1001 things that could go wrong/fail as well but who knows maybe it works?
