The same thing that forms the basis of all forms of bigotry:

If you are in the "wrong" group, you deserve to be discriminated against and blamed for that discrimination against you.

Different bigots have different ideas about which groups are right and which are wrong, but the underlying idea is always the same. "Liberal" bigots (who are extremely illiberal) tend to be even more hypocritical about their bigotry than other bigots and to devote great time and effort to corrupting the very idea of equality, which usually makes them even worse than other bigots.

That's assuming it ever was about grievances rather than being politically adept bigotry promoting prejudice and discrimination against those that the ideology deems to be in the "wrong" group and calling that "equality". Note that the target is and always has been "white", male and usually both.

Maintaining and increasing division is a crucial part of group identity politics. Once a person has accepted the idea that everyone is defined by membership of whatever groups are currently fashionable in their strain of group identity politics, it's an obvious next step to do as much as possible to enforce division between those groups, which of course includes enforcing as rigid as possible a division between the groups, even down to things like clothing. They can't allow women to wear trousers...oh wait, that was a slightly older strain of the same way of thinking that's not currently fashionable amongst group identity advocates. Same thing, different day. Although those group identity advocates were less hypocritical, more honest and less one-sided than the current outbreak of them, so I suppose they weren't quite as bad.

I recently watched a video of Japanese choirs, musicians and soloists performing Ode To Joy. The soloists even put on German accents while singing! Such terrible cultural appropriation! If it continues, we may have the abject horror of increased tolerance and unity and that cannot be allowed! How can we maintain and increase irrational prejudices based on group identity if we don't rigidly enforce group identity?

lol - my school must take a political stance and condemn the presidential candidate I don't like else they're making me feel afraid at school... my fellow students should only voice support for the candidates I find acceptable
