Sup all,

We want a week or so away in South of France with our 4m canvas bell tent. Last time I went camping round the area (and in Northern Italy along the coast) I was on a motorbike with a tiny 2 man tent. Annoyingly, I could not find any actual campsites. Despite all of them saying they were, it was just hordes of mobile homes parked up for the summer. Not a tent in site.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows of any decent sites not swarming with kids, near the sea and not packed to the brim with mobile homes where I have to pitch at the arse end of a large van...

Thanks!

Not South but we went to El de Ray (might have misspelt) its a great place, a lovely island, we went Canvas though so loads of kids on our site but there are a few, probably the best place ive been camping in France and i go every year.

Such wit.

Ahh come on - it was kinda funny :p

Île de Ré I think you mean, near La Rochelle?
