Ford Capri are coming back?

My mate had the 2.8 Injection and I had a 1980 3.0s.. He used to love the induction howl mine made with the K& N I had on.

Crappy wheels on the crunched one because I put them on a Mk1 escort van I bought whilst I repaired the green terror

.

my Cortinas all had Webbers, chrome pancake filters, vinyl roofs, sunroofs, Rosatile wheels, resprays, my fav was the mk2 cortina 1600E.

when you do see an old Ford Capri nowadays, it's excellent, i love seeing those old cars ...........Really fantastic memories, but unfortunately it's a lifetime ago, it's a bit sad to think of it all now.

Beautifully mint Cortinas on that page.

Like the Capri was a mini Mustang the Cortina was probably a mini Falcon

Got a spare MILLION bucks ?

That car in detail

I owned a Mk 1 3000E in the mid seventies and I did love that car. RSO ***L

I drove it from Southampton to Aberdeen every two weeks and it was comfortable enough to do the trip non stop except to keep filling the tank. I drove it to Alicante once for work and for a few months from there to Benidorm on the **** twice a week.

It was thirsty 15-20mpg when driven hard. Four speed on the floor, 90mph in third and 115 in 4th.

With 185 avons all round, rear wheel drive and all the weight up front, it was hairy in the cold and wet.

BUT I would own one again just for the LOL's.

they also had the Savage V6 Cortina mk2 and the Lotus MK2 ;) both were tremendous cars..........the MK 1 was nice looking too.

but back then my favourite was the Jenson Interceptor, man o man what a car, but way too expensive to buy for young lad like me ;)

before this era Ford had the Zephyr 6, Zodiac, Consul and of course the extremely rare 1st Capri with the tail fins.

but who can forget British Leyland :D..........what a load of rubbish they were

I also owned a pre '62 Zodiac Mk III, what a tool, bench seats front and back, 3 speed column change (which worked well) and a nice straight 6, 2.5 litre lump. I paid £75 for it in '74 and ran it for two years.

BL never had a very good reputation here in the UK but its Australian subsidiary released the quite advanced P76 down under.

I was actually quite surprised that it never got released here.

Oh .. My dad had the boxy shaped Zephyr V6 - Flattened a lamp post with it one morning !!

I loved "playing submarines" in it as it had lots of kewl buttons and bench seats !!

Hey.. I was young !

Must've been the original 1300 model, which didn't even have a "powerbulge" bonnet.

They did a MK3 1.3 which did have the bulge, it had the 4Cyl OHV Kent engine, they aren't heavy cars at all, I think the 1.3 tipped the scales at just over 1000kg but even then still take a day to hit 60.

Having seen one in the flesh I think you could probably get a couple of small children under the bonnet along side the engine! :D

they had a 1300 mk3 Cortina as well, it was as slow as hell :D

i has a couple of 2.0 GXLs, just like the photo below, both were resprayed.

amazing isn't it, i liked the Ford Granada a lot but i never owned one, it looked so cool belting around on Sweeney :D

The Tiger Avenger most probably had the GLS Holbay racing engine in it... Bloody quick...For it's day

it had black Shelby like stripes, bright Fire Engine orange paint job and twin carbs, they were SUs...it had probably been resprayed

my Dad was furious when i brought it home :D after this i started my love affair with the Cortina. the Avenger was faster than the 1600E but not as good going around a corner

That was the GT version with duel Su's.

The Holbay version had twin Weber 40 DCOE's. I'm not sure on the Avenger but on the Hunter the Holbay was the uber elite balls to the wall version that had a 1725 engine.

There were a lot of private tuners back then. Holbay was one of them.. I believe he lost his life in an aircraft accident.
