So, just a question on how the system works.
I live in bethnyl green(zone 2) and I need to travel to ealing broadway(zone 3).
If i got the travelcard..would it work?

The underground goes straight to ealing broadway but has to go through all the zone 1 stations. Would I need to put cash to pay the difference, or how much exactly would it cost one way with the travelcard on it.

Zone 2-3

Yes if you go through zone 1 you will have to pay extra, put so,me pay as you go n it and it will deduct it automatically, should be about £1.20 extra.

Contactless Credit/Debit card will charge you the cost or the price of a travel card which every is least.

Just tap in and out with it, done.

Contactless could save you money for day pass, I used to pay £12 for a day pass when visiting, i think if you use your contactless you have a limit on the tubes of £7 per day I heard to travel throughout the day, or have I been hearing rumours? Capping?

I travel ,3-4 times a week to uni, and possibly other places during the week. So just wondering really, if itll be worth getting moneys worth, with a weekly travelcard, contactless only does daily?

There is daily caps yes, depending on which zone(s) you use. For example I know that only using zone 1 will be capped at £6.50 per day.

Just use a contactless card, a travel card wont save you money unless you're using the tube 7 days a week.

Even if you use Pay As You Go (Oyster or Contactless), you will get capped at the same price as a 7 Day Travelcard for Zones 1-3 (£38).

If you have an 18+ Student Oyster card you can save 30%.

Not true. He could buy a monthly or annual ticket and that would save him money.

eg. Zone 1-3 weekly cap (or 5 days contactless usage) is £38
4 weeks in a month, 38x4 = £152
But the monthly ticket is £146

If he does that x12 months then that's £1,824, but the annual travelcard is only £1,520.

If you're working 5 days a week and know you're going to be doing it for a year it's still (just) worth getting an annual ticket or possibly even a monthly one. You also get a network rail Gold Card which is very useful for money off rail travel (and 30% off PAYG Oyster travel outside your zones, off peak)
