Hi

I am considering purchasing a new Aorus laptop either X7 v5 or X5S v5, I was originally put off from the X7 due to noise of the fans but after
viewing the new v5 revision the fans seem to have a reduction in noise by 10-12db possibly due to the better thermal performance of the I7 Skylake processor.
Can anyone confirm this ?

My other reservation is compatbility with SLI in modern games, would I have any issues? examples of titles I own Skyrim, Fallout 4, Xcom 2

The alternative was the new X5s with a single 980m and 4k screen, however I am concerned that I would need to downscale to run most titles as the card may not perform well running in native 4k res. Would running in 1080p look scaled ?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Hi sparker,

You can find a recent review of the X7 v5 on HEXUS website.

Regarding SLI compatibility, most new titles should be fine but we will send you specific favourites to HQ to get clarification on them.

Also we will confirm the scaling question you ask about X5S.

Hope to come back tomorrow with better answers for you,

Thank You

Note could only see review on v2 not v5 on Hexus.

The most important thing at the moment I guess is the noise levels.

Thanks in Advance

Hi Sparker,

Great question! To answer your question, SLI support is dependent upon NVidia and the correlating driver to support SLI for the game. For example Xcom 2. NVidia released SLI support for it when it released their Street Fighter V driver, as it was included.

As far as the games you listed. To my knowledge NVidia should have SLI profiles for all of those games already released, so you should see nothing but FPS gains.

Hope this answer your questions and address your concerns. Be sure to let us know if we can be of more assistance!

On a side note Fallout 4 is a great game. I've replayed it 3 times! Now I'm working on The Division!~ :D

Thanks!

Thanks all

for anyone that needs to know if fans run quieter, here is the reply I got from Aorous

To give a bit more details, we did make some adjustments to our cooling design since the last generation to improve temperatures, and decrease fan noise.

1. The width of the fans have increase, thus increasing airflow.
2. The fans thickness of the fans have also increased, thus improving heat dissipation.
3. The thermal pipes are thicker, giving better heat conductivity.
