It's not a real sun it just looks like one. The aliens have spread misinformation about it being really hot so we don't venture to close to their hideout.

Also obviously because they're invisible . Also the misinformation about not looking directly at the sun as it damages your eyes. They're just using that so you don't see them even though they're invisible.
