I moved to a 'sensible' car a couple of years ago and I'm finding it rather boring now so I'm wondering what I can get for up to 10k? I'm thinking I might go for another focus st but I would I like 4wd or rwd. Mpg doesn't matter as work is only 5 minutes away. 3 or 5 door is fine. I'm also thinking about taking it to track days so I would like it to be quick and handle reasonably well.

Yeah i'd be getting another STi for those requirements, try and find one of the last 2.0 litre cars on an 05 or 55 plate with DCCD they're the ones to get and you should get a very nice example for that money.

I do like the s2000, and I also prefer the hard top. The prices on them don't seem to go down at all.

For info i sold my 05 plate STi like that in silver, 80k on the clock, BC coilovers, gauges, remap, exhaust, uprated discs & pads etc for £8200 just under a year ago. I think prices have gone up a touch since then http://imgur.com/a/s21sg#0

That looks really nice. If you was selling that now I would have snapped your hand off!

I can sell mine to WBAC for a grand more than I paid for it from a main dealer two years ago.

the GT is really the one to go for even if you never use the Hardtop as values are always a lot more stable and the insurance quotes for me have always been a fair amount cheaper.

I do like the 350z and they seem reasonably priced.

How about a renaultsport rs 250? perfect for trackdays

I had one and was quite disappointed with it, it handled brilliantly but it just didn't feel powerful and took 0 skill to drive.

E46 M3 Coupe.

Good shout, I love the look of these. How reliable are they?

Evo VIII.

I love evos! They was always my dream car as a child, the evo IX is pure win.

Pretty good, as long as you don't get an SMG.

They have several larger issues with them:

- Cracks around the subframe mounting point. BMW did a "quality enhancement" on these for any car which was 10 years or younger which had cracks which fixed it. If cracks appeared after 10 years, you normally have to get reinforcement plates welded in at £800 all in.

- VANOS issues - Not hugely common, lots of information/support out there if you did get any issues, and likewise lots of reasonably priced fixes also.

- Head gasket failure - Again, not hugely common but a recognised issue

- SMG - Don't ask. Just don't get it.

Apart from them, a very fun car, which manages to do everything well - even look good despite it's nearly 20 year old aesthetic design!

It'll be a dog of a IX if you find one. The VIII MR models are coming in near £10k but you may struggle. Personally I'd be looking for a GSR import, should be a few around your budget.

You can change the nose and rear bumper to the IX ones as well.
