As I have the ASUS MG279Q(2560x1440 @144hz) Freesync monitor im thinking of getting the above card or the R9 390 to try it out,ive had NV cards for a while now but im just not sure about buying a AMD card.

Games im playing at the moment are.
World of warships
Fallout 4

I have the MSI 390X, got it on a weekly special 8 months ago for £320. Fantastic card, solid performance.

That said, the prices on the 390's are much better than the 390X at the moment, plus with the new generation cards on the horizon, I wouldn't pay £350 for a 390X at this point.

If you already have the Free Sync screen you might as well go AMD.

After 2 years i came from a 290 to a 970, both are solid cards, my next card could be AMD or Nvidia depending on who offers the best bang for my £.
Tho admittedly most likely AMD and i want a new screen to go with it and G-Sync screens are way over priced.

I'd get the Sapphire 390 Nitro.

+1

The sapphire 390 (x isnt worth the extra, and I have a 390x!) is the card to go for IMO. It has the better vrms and 8 + 8 power connector rather than the usual 8+6 which theoretically allows more power but the usefulness is still questionable, still its "more" for the money. The cooling is supposed to be excellent too.

Had a similar dilemma just over a week ago when they had the Powercolor 390 for £250 was either that or a 390x, however the Fury Nano caught my eye at £350 and after some though went for the Nano over the other 2. Couldn't be happier glad i choose the Nano nice step up from hot and noisy 7970.

I got the x following lack of research, in hindsight I would have gone plain 390 and put the change towards a second.

I got a Sapphire 390X for £300 back in November I think it was. I am very happy with it at that price but I am not sure how much they're going for now.

It's a great card for that money if possible, if not the 390 is probably better value for money.

Think I'm gona wait for the next gen cards to come out and just buy a cheap card on the MM .
