summer is on the way and I'm already thinking about spending time in the garden.
Thinking of putting the patio heater under the gazebo.

This is a test fit without the cover on.
I'm not sure how hot the air above a gas patio heater actually gets

I don't own one but I've sat near them in public places, they can give off immense heat and of course heat ultimately rises.

I'm not qualified in any way to comment on the safety aspect, but I wouldn't do it.

They have a wide heat radius, you should be able to place it outside of the gazebo and still be comfortable.

I've got one and they get crazy hot above them, to the point you can see the heat rising off it. They also don't always burn that cleanly so I wouldnt recommend using them in an area where carbon monoxide could collect to dangerous levels.

Get some infrared lamps or a small table top patio heater instead

now if you were to buy am electric patio heater, that should be fine (and in principle cheaper to run)

Electric cheaper than gas for heat?

That's a new one to me!

Bear in mind it is comparing domestic electric supply to patio gas canisters as opposed to natural gas. An electric heater will be cheaper but offer significantly less heat.

The highest rated electric heater will be 3KW unless you put a dedicated feed to it so will cost around 45p per hour.

By comparison a full size patio heater will eat through a £30 patio gas canister in 10 to 14 hours so £2 to £3 per hour. It will however output significantly more heat. You could run half a dozen infra red lamps and it cost no more than a patio heater.

This is interesting, defo want to sack the patio heater off if that is the case. the patio isn't huge and the gazebo takes most of it up. I have seen the decent electric heaters for around £80, but some are significantly cheaper.

I was at a BBQ last year and they had a Chimenea thing. I was surprised how much heat that thing threw out. Was kinda nice to keep it burning too.

Dunno how much it equates to in cost, but for the sake of some wood and a bit of fun burning stuff I thought it was ideal :)

Chimnea's are useless. They are pretty good if you are sat with 2ft of it (at which point you get covered in smoke and embers) but further away than that they don't seem to have a noticeable effect. We used about 3 different ones and always come away disappointed.

Ahh yes, a chimnea underneath something which you are also sitting under. Excellent idea :D

Haha I'm not recommending it in this situation, It was more in response to someone posting figures on gas and electric :D

Shrink the resolution when you upload them, even on a 2.5k screen I can only see about 25%

I uploaded them straight from my phone using the imgur app. It doesn't appear to have any "shrinkage" settings. :(

as for chimenea, I've only been to 1 bbq where someone had one and to say it smoked a bit would be an understatement, only my bbq smokes more, but I sorted the bbq with a pedestal fan pointed away from the guests :D
