I can't decide whether 24" or 27" would be best so I'm open to suggestions, but max budget is £500.

I play FPS games so want a decent response time, and I do video/photo editing which is why I want to move above the 1080p resolution for more screen estate.

I do not have a Gsync or Freesync supporting gfx card, and whilst I want to upgrade my gfx card to an Nvidia that won't happen anytime soon, but something to consider I suppose. Shame that it seems you're being tied to one manufacturer!

The 25" Dell U2515H is a good option. Cheap (you can get two for your budget), pre calibrated and although only 60hz is fine for gaming.

The Dell U2515H looks great at that price point, is 8ms really ok for fast action paced games though?

Any SW you'd particularly recommend? There are some LG ones at £50 more than the dell and considerably bigger (29" and 34" respectively, but at the same price), even an Iiyama at the top end of the budget. Have never used a SW monitor though, not sure about the aspect ratio, guess I'd get used to it.

SW is ace....:D

I ditched a 144hz Benq for the U2515H and much preferred the Dell. Perfectly fine for FPS.

16:9, I suffered from fatigue at 27" which I know sounds bonkers, but true.

For me, 24" is my sweet spot.

21:9 super wide is where it is at.

Man so many choices. I'm tempted by the Dell at that price point, but guess I need to see a Superwide in action to actually decide. Hmm.

I'm going to go against the SW bandwagon and suggest you try for a 144hz IPS monitor. Of course it depends how competitive you are in your fps games and how poor your GPU is as to whether you'll be seeing those high frames needed to make use of a high refresh rate, though 144hz does improve desktop use as well.

Its horses for courses...

I would take SW at 60hz over 144hz any day and I've tried both.

But its up to the individual

A solid 60fps on a 60hz monitor is fine when you have so much more immersion.

Just a shame the Dell U34 SW I had had loads of BLB :(

Still miss it.

It is highly personal. 5 years ago I chose 1440/60hz over 1080/120hz trying both sides by side. More recently I went with 1440/144 over 4K/60. I've not tried UW but I really don't think I could give up gsync having tred it, and the UW gsync is too rich for my blood, with all the other stuff supposedly coming in the next year or so and it seems like VR will provide more immersion than just any flat screen.

I don't have a gfx card that will warrant a 144hz ips :(.

I've got the U2715H, and I adore it. Beautifully vibrant colours, more than ample for gaming, good choice of digital inputs and the über thin bezel is the icing on the cake for me. Plus the standard Dell warranty goodness.

My brother has the 25" and he's very happy also.

They're great panels, but there's more choice on the market in different form factors now so there's most probably better alternatives out there. However I'm still smiling about the Dell, which gets w good workout everyday on desktop and gaming duties.

Ok I think I'm going to stick with QHD non superwide.

Question I guess now is best for budget. I like the look of the Dell, especially at £250, though the 27" version isn't too much more expensive. How do people rate BenQ? Eg the GW2765HT looks like it ticks many boxes but it is rather cheap..
