i broke my new 980ti after a poorly planned mission

I've been there in the past lol. That feeling. Its very painful to hear that dink. You could try super glueing the blade back on. But unless you get them bang on they might be off balance which may cause the bearing to wear down quicker. But ive had friends run with fan blades missing for years and they have been fine.

Either way selling a Ti for 250 because of a broken fan blade. Might aswell see if you can get a replacement cooler or fan itself, send away for repair?. I would keep it as its likely to be fine, especially if you manage to super glue it back on.

And yeah Ti's use a lot of power. Entire system has used over 1000w before with just 2 cards. 1300w should see you use 3 cards. I would personally keep 3 cards rather than sell them dirt cheap.

£250. Hand it here. I'll take it ;).

i should think it is, why what would be suffice? 1600 watt?

Even 1600 watts is cutting it fine if you plan to do any overclocking.

This is what I use for 4 way SLI, it is a bit overkill but at least I don't have listen to the PSU fans going flat out all the time.

Does anyone know where I can grab a fan for a Asus Strix 980ti? Ive contacted 2 people at Asus and they have told me they do not supply or sell parts for asus products, the only way is to contact the re-seller and claim warranty, but how can i claim warranty if I broke the fan myself!!

I could buy a aftermarket fan but they wont work as the fans are very specific in design, ive googled it to no avail.

any suggestions will be appreciated.

a solution could be to put a aftermarket cooler on the broken card, and install that card on the bottom slot assuming there is room?

I'm not sure I've heard of anyone running quad SLI on air, its sounds like a bad idea to me. If you have money to throw away, then investing in a custom water build would probably represent slightly better value for money than that 4th 980ti your bought did? That would be my recommendation considering how all in you are anyway.

^^Actually sounds like quite a good plan, albeit one that'll require a lot of effort. Sell 2 working 980Tis, and water cool the other two (including the broken one) OP?

if i had the expertise then I would waterblock it, unfortunately I dont, even if i tried id probably break it more.

the aftermarket cooler on the card with the broken cooler plan then?

Do you have space for a double / triple cooler on the bottom slot?

most of you are asking him to water cool all the cards, *(mr fingers and thumbs up there) cant install cards that are plug and play properly without breaking the fan...
god knows what would happen if he sprung a leak lol

Sorry to hear for your loss, but luckily it sounds like you are rich enough to swallow the mistake and move on.

I broke a 670GTX fan soon after installing it, once. It was so quiet, I wasn't sure where the fan noise was coming from in my PC, so I put my finger on the fan to test it whilst it was spinning - bad idea.

Why are there so many people comment on rich enough and showing off? Yeah it got messed up and the OP went into detail. No need to start a tracking the person cause god forbid they like to talk about their pc components on a pc forum!!

Anyways, best bet if have managed to break the fan as noted is probably to sell them on ebay and pick up something new. People our there will buy cause it's damaged to water cool it.

The vultures have landed, looking to get a cheap 980ti that just has a broken fan lol

Watercool them all unless you live in Iceland and prefer the heat and noise to drown out that arctic wind :D

I'm aware this is an added cost though :(

I would sell off two working cards and just use the funds to waterblock the one with the broken fan and the matching card. I find scaling to be kind of meh when my third gpu enters the mix more often then not.

Besides on air I can imagine the thermal throttling will be kind of mental on 4 aftermarket cards sandwiched in a case so your boost would reduce quite abit I would imagine.

ok I just tried to take the broken fan out so i can order one based on its model, I removed the 4 screws but its attached to this plastic bit that tucks the wires in so it doesn't hit the blades so it doesnt come out, i then looked at to totally remove the fan as it makes a horrendous noise if powered above 50%, to remove the fan you would need to dismantle the card, which i cannot do.

So gonna sell all my cards and just settle with 2 or one titan, ive calculated that if i sell one 980ti on ebay for 450 then the fees amount to £65 per card which is ridiculous, that leaves me £385 when i paid £600 on each, any suggestions to how i can get rid of 4 cards (1 broken fan) in the most efficient way?
