Is 100% of your currency public loot then? That seems punitive especially when you need several thousand for some items and I couldn't see a way to stash them, they are just stored against your character.

Or is only a portion of it public but to get any at all back you need to get back to your corpse. Sorry for the noob questions!

No it only drops a certain amount.

You were just unlucky because you had so little. I've got over 200,000 at the minute and was dropping a few thousand a time.

How often do high ends drop in the DZ? Granted I play solo and never go above DZ03 but I see no point going rogue because the chances are the loot another player is carrying isn't worth anything if you are already swimming in purple gear. Also the high ends available in the DZ are only item lvl 30 I have heard.

Is sniper as a secondary pretty much the best bet for any play style?

I'm looking to make a tanky build and almost have enough PC to craft my secondary. Is a sniper still the best bet?

Don't take this as gospel. I am fairly new to end game and haven't scratched the surface of end game potential through load outs. But if you are going tanky, possibly playing a tank role PvE end game? I would like into maybe a shotgun?

If you are going to be the one taking aggro or a meat shield that would be my bet. Decent pistol for when you use the shield. Then maybe a shotgun/smg combo seeing as you might always be close? Failing that maybe swap out the smg for an assault rifle for a bit more range.

Honestly though, you can't go wrong with a sniper rifle.

You drop all your loot in the DZ when you die. However depending on your status not all your items are visible to other players. If you are not rogue most of your items will be private. So you will have to go back to pick them up but no one else can see them. Higher rank you are the more public items you drop. The split is something like:

Neutral - 1 public/ 5 private.
Rogue 1 - 2 public/ 4 private.
Rogue 2 - 3 public / 3 Private
Rogue 3 - 4 public / 2 Private
Rogue 4 - 5 public / 1 Private
Rogue 5 - 6 public / 0 Private

Obviously varies as you unlock more contaminated slots.

EDIT: D'oh you were referring to currency.

I was thinking this but then I was wondering if it's honestly worth going tank for PVE (it is PVE I will mostly be playing).

I currently have 60k health and get 2 shotted by most things in challenge mode. If I double that or even get to 150k is there even much benefit to getting 4 shotted instead of 2 shotted?

A question that is banded around a lot within my group. We agree, in short, no.

But then none of us are really geared up for tanking. Ok we can reach 80k HP even 150k HP. But have we got +armour stats, +defence against elites, +resistances. To a lesser extent + aggro. (A lot of mission would be wonderful if all most mobs were aggro'd onto one tank... Maybe stacking electronics as a second choice for improved shield health?

How vital might these be come the incursions?

But to come full circle, perhaps they won't be. It might still just be a dps race where people's health bars are their own problem and popping signature skills at the right time is semi-important..

Apologies, I didn't really answer the question :P

I agree with this.

I'll probably go sniper anyway, I can't think of many occasions when it wouldn't be useful.

I'm not even sure how useful a shotgun would be. You can't use it with your shield up, even with lots of +armor etc I can't see running into a group of mobs and shotgunning them until they die to be a viable strategy. (I'd imagine it would take a least 4 shots to the face to down an elite, probably more) .

True... however I think a lot of people underestimate blind fire whilst in close proximity.

But sniper is a solid choice. hope you got the first wave m1a yesterday!

Agreed.

With the state of the game right now, the tank build just isn't viable. Go play a level on challenging and even with a tank build the shotgun rushers can still wipe you out so fast.

The whole point of a tank build is that you can sit there and take damage and not die allowing others to do DPS them. This never seems to work out from what I've seen.

I've just hit level 16. I haven't really seen any purple stuff yet, just green and blue. When do purple drops tend to start being more regular?

Level 25.

I gave it a shot today and enjoyed it. I didn't read the patch notes so don't know what's all changed but it definitely felt better. Did the two dailies which were much easier than I expected and had a quick taste of the challenge mission to see how hard it is. All I can say is holy ****. I seriously need to hear up a bit first!

Either I just wasn't noticing it before, or they've added an effect with the latest patch that makes your chat comms 'echo' via the regular speakers (not the headset) when you're both in enclosed areas e.g. small rooms, underground tunnels etc. Quite cool.

Only viable build in challenge mode seems to be all players having flame turrets and taking it in turns to lock down choke points with them.

Any lowbie players? Ps4

Currently lvl 8 and finding the game pretty stale playing solo

Really ? I've played 90% of the game solo and loved it, if you feel it is stale you can always use matchmaking.

I'm lvl 19 and had only seen one Purple item and those were some knee pads.
