GTX970 choice: ASUS STRIX OC or Gigabyte G1 Gaming?

Hi,

I choosing a GTX970 card...

ASUS STRIX OC and Gigabyte G1 Gaming both look great!

The G1 gaming has 3 fans and strix oc has 2.

Which one is quieter and cooler?

The Strix will be quieter with it's 0db settings. But the Gigabyte isn't noisy either, its whisper quite even during gaming.

Plus it's faster out of the box.

I went Gigbayte when I bought mine last year.

But if this deal is still on, get the Strix!!!!
 
The ASUS heat sink does not have any contact with the VRAM, is that an issue? A lot of reviews said the VRAM cooling depends on the air flow only...

Nope.

Checking our RMA rates, the Asus card is also the more reliable card. :)
 
Heat won't kill the vram on that card (providing the fans working as intended), it's too high an oc on vram or sustained high vram oc causing degredation that will kill your vram over time.
 
I got the Asus Strix 970 around 4 months ago and it is fantastic. Quiet, no coil whine and idles at around 30 degrees and havent ever seen it go over 65 degrees even at load.

Runs everything I throw at it at 60fps on high settings when coupled with my i5. I went from a Palit 960 to a Asus 970 and the Asus does seem to run quieter and cooler.

The gigabyte is the better card, quieter superior heatsink and heatpipes, power delivery and more oc headroom.

The Asus with the current deal wins though and would be the one to buy.

We do not make them public, confidential data.

Asus is lower compared to Gigabyte but both are low, no stand out issues. :)
 
g1 if u get samsung memory OCs like ****... and is silent love mine but it struggles at 3440x1440p with max settings so waiting for new cards :D
