There are so many wider issues at stake here but the same posters and people always want to reduce it to being the fault of Islam. That is clearly not the case and we need to take a look a bit closer to home.

Our foreign policies have been a disaster since 9/11 in an attempt to convince the idiot public we were being looked after by getting some shots of shiny aircraft dropping bombs on the desert. A far better response at the time would have been to concentrate our efforts on domestic security rather than getting involved in unwinnable wars that breed resentment and ill feeling against us. We've created a generation of extremists. Far better to step back, look after our own interests and let the ME sort itself out.

They're brought up families from these countries and many are taught the same values, they often spend extended periods there exposed to this culture.

I don't disagree, but without our involvement I think we would be looking primarily at civil wars in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon etc rather than attacks being waged against us.

The terrorists are killing in the name of islam and the targets are anyone who doesn't share their faith - Therefore the preachers, and practice of Islam must address this.

Harp on all you want about 'looking closer to home' etc. but until Islam and the Muslim community gets a firm grip on the extremists and changes its 'anti-west / we want our own world in your country' mentality the finger of blame will always point in that direction.

and yet when we intervene against Serbia in the Balkans we didn't get orthodox Christians blowing themselves up, when we went to war against Argentina we didn't get Catholic suicide bombers, when the US and Australia fought in Vietnam they didn't get Maoist or bhuddist suicide bombers

Western intervention is merely a catalyst, the root of the problem is still Islam (or at least an interpretation of it). It wasn't Western intervention that caused Salman Rushdie to receive death threats and active attempts to assassinate him. It wasn't western intervention that caused a Danish cartoonist to be murdered or the offices of a French publication to be attacked. It wasn't western intervention that cause UN workers to be killed in Kabul after a US Preacher burned a Quran.

Are you a Christian? If so, you need to do something about the Ku Klux Klan, the BNP or the Russian National Unity party. All if them are far right Christian groups that adhere to dangerous ideologies and have thousands of followers. Some if them were directly involved in acts of terrorism. Christianity has a problem and, by your logic, it's up to you to fix it.

You're comparing apples and to oranges to suit your agenda.

So you think Muslims shouldn't do more to help young people avoid extremism yet you think white British people should be helping them integrate more? Are you insane?

Also, in reference to a post of yours a page or so back - in what ways is it our fault for not doing enough to integrate these people? What are you basing this on? These acts are being commited by typically second generation British Muslims. These people have had free education, free health care, social benefits (if necessary) to put a roof over their heads. These people went to school just like I did, some of them went to uni just like I did, they have had the exact same opportunities in life as me. These people are being converted by people in the Muslim community and therefore the Muslim community are best suited to help stop this.
