Got one of these turning up,have 3x100 mile rides this year so will be good to keep track of them all.
You'll love it, but just a heads up... The Garmin HRM's are known to have problems with their straps so if you get odd readings or it dropping off then make sure you get it swapped under warranty. The 810 is a good unit, the bluetooth sync to mobile (Garmin Connect) is worth a fair chunk of that (meaning you only really plug it in to charge it!). Personally I went for the bare 810 (£225) a different £40 HRM (I already had it) and bought my sensors separately so I could use my old sensor (Garmin GSC10 £30) which I then replaced with the newer ones (£50). The separate sensor bundle also gave me a speed sensor to use on the turbo and allowed me to spread the cost a little! ;)

You get paid too much! ;)
Also after rapha repaired my shorts it does soften the blow of the initial outlay.
Do many others offer this? I'm wondering about Sportful with my damaged set... Could always say I crashed in them! Could send them pictures of your bike lol ;)
So it's my battery that died not my volt400.. Got a free volt 300, brand new from my gf so I'm good to go.. Weird!
She's a keeper. Although you could get a replacement for £20ish. Just a heads up, the Volt300 uses the BA2.2 battery (3.6V 2200mAh) and the Volt 400/800 use the BA3.1 battery (3.6V 3100mAh). You'll find less runtime on the 300 battery over the one your 400 came with! :)
If you wear cheap chinese shorts you ride faster to get them off sooner :p
lol!

Looking here at the weather report for this 4 day weekend, friday is the only day without rain. As I rode on monday (still suffering from saturday) and took a rest day tuesday, I decided to rest thursday (rain later...) which meant a ride last night (following my logic?!) after work to bump my miles up. I had wanted to do my usual 'Bike Club' 20 mile ride but with my main light gone back to Wiggle (and the replacement not here yet) I couldn't risk darkness so did a shorter ~12 mile route so I was back before 6:45-7ish when it's getting dark.

Without my mate along I was able to push myself a little, although I wasn't very well fueled and the winds were stronger than I wanted! I managed 19.6mph average for the 11 miles out of traffic, but then traffic knocked my overall down to 18.6mph for the 12.8 miles... Even grudas should be happy with me for that?! ;)

This is correct man logic I guess.
Like Tony Martin with a sandpaper saddle and a cut up arse. Horrific agony, but boy it makes you go faster to get off the damn thing sooner.
Tony Martin is a beast. We should all aim to essentially be him.

Nice work! :)

Same here for the weather... I have today through until next Thursday off as I had to take the days or lose them. I guess I'll try get out for a short one today and plan a longer ride for tomorrow then sit in and wait for the rainy days to go!

yeah I've realised that, the 300 is bright enough tbh! seems even brighter than 400 in some cases? different lens? I dunno!

I think it might be the charging port that's gone on the 400 so with a charged battery it works but with the uncharged one it doesn't.

I'll try charging it with 300's "head" and see if it comes on after a while :o

The weather isn't looking too inspiring here... I may go out first thing tomorrow or Saturday, and just do a short one.

I was supposed to be riding to my parents and back over the weekend, which is 40 or so miles each way if you go through Liverpool and take the ferry. As it is plans have changed so I'm now driving over, but I think I'll take a bike with me and get out Sunday morning. I've got a route planned out around the Dee side of the Wirral. It's very flat so it should be quite quick, though I have put in one drop right down to the seafront which I'll then have to climb my way out of. I might even see Chris Boardman in Hoylake...

I've travelled all the way to Devon for some riding this weekend.. Looks like the only day I'll have is tomorrow!

Certainly worth trying, it might be the jolt caused the battery to short out and totally discharge itself in some way so it's beyond 'flat' and the 400 wouldn't charge it from that for some reason. I've never spotted the Volt 'cartridge' cradle in stock anywhere for sale but I'm sure I saw a bundle somewhere where the cradle came with a spare/replacement battery.

Make sure you take your lock with you if stopping anywhere near Birkenhead! ;)

And wouldn't you be more likely to see Chris Hoy around Hoylake?! amirite?! ;):D
I'll get me coat...
Replacement pair of Sportful Fiandre NoRain Bibshorts - £80 with 20% discount = £64
Sportful Force Thermal Jersey - £55 with 40% discount = £33

Possible route for me tomorrow (hunting down Gospel pass (CAT2) which will be my longest/highest climb before I tackle The Tumble, which is steeper but not as high/long).

That looks a great ride Roady. I am tempted to ride along the A465 as it is a nice open and wide road. I may try it myself when I visit my parents. What time you looking to set out tomorrow?
No idea on times tomorrow as my mate hasn't text me back, I was hoping to head out at 9-10-ish to be back mid afternoon to not totally write off the whole day (even though my legs will be lol). ;)

The A465 is a great road, very open and wide in places even though people drive it far too fast it's fairly 'ok' to ride along. Surface is generally ok although the winds can be strong with usually a headwind. I've done stretches of it a number of times with no problems and ridden Hereford->Abergavenny->Hereford once before (without the Tumble) which I'll be doing again very soon (with the Tumble!). There's only 2 points on it where the road narrows to go under/over bridges (1 of which is traffic lighted). The roundabouts at Abergavenny are best avoided (4 lanes in places with multiple lanes filtering in/out) so it's best to take the 'Old Hereford Road' (B4521) in to Abergavenny town.
My goodness! The scenery around the 40km stretch! That is gorgeous!
Yup, right on the top of the Black Mountains and rides past 'Lord Hereford's Knob' :D:D:D

decided this evening to rebuild one of my rear wheels to put heavier spokes in the driveside

griping to myself about the 50g weight gain, i'm gently ignoring the fact that I've lost about 10lb off of my gut since I built those wheels.

Yup, saw tons of bikes out today and tons of horses. Got out for a gentle 50 miles with two friends that haven't cycled much of late (or much at all in one case). Lovely weather.

Kind of fun to see my average HR so low on the ride.

What a fantastic day. Bit chilly first thing but far too overdressed by the end. Legs felt fine just my lungs are still a bit blocked from this cold. Think I'm gonna go out again layer for a little pootle if it's still good.

Weather lovely but very very windy up here, home into 30+ mph gusts and it is only getting worse out there now.

I forgot my jersey when drove to my mates. I am an XS, all he had was a "small fitting" XL. So yeah, I was about as aero as a packet of crisps today :p
