Another pointless thread for the day :p . Regardless, was just wondering.

Currently in hospital and been for the past 2 nights after surgery on Thursday. Would appear I can go home tomorrow. So would've been 3 nights in total. I tell ya ... ready to climb the walls don't begin to describe it. Only one other in the room with me that had an eye operation and he's been there for 5 nights and near depressed. He's also heading home tomorrow. I've had enough of reading, enough of playing handheld games, enough of the Internet, enough of people coming to visit and scrape the barrel for conversation.

Although it did give me a newfound and utmost respect for the jobs doctors and nurses do. Especially the conditions they do it under.

What's the longest you've been in hospital?

I was in for 9 days after my appendix burst, was about 36 hours from when it started giving me grief to when I finally had it removed as well so 10+ days of misery.

The first 6 days I was just in agony all the time and on a whole bunch of pain killers having no effect so time passed reasonably quickly even though I couldn't sleep. There were also another 5 people in the room with me to talk to when I wasn't just watching TV all day. The last few days though yeah I couldn't wait to get out of there.

10 day for a pnumathorax (deflated lung) I walked around with for almost a week (doctors were a bit shocked after learning how long I left it)

Last time I pulled the intravenous needle out of my arm and walked out.

With hindsight I should have realised that blood will start squirting everywhere at this point, and it's quite fiddly to clean up the mess and hold a finger over the hole :o

And you are not supposed to drive yourself home after an operation either.

I really do not like being in hospital.

31 days.

Had a laporotomy to remove a giant polyp that was causing intususseption.

Took them a month to find out what it was and had to stay in as pain would have kept driving me back for more morphine.

5-6 days. I had kidney pain so intense that I was crying like a little girl and ended up in A&E begging for some industrial strength pain relief. :p They kept me in for observation but couldn't really determine what the problem was.

Thankfully I've not had any occurrences since.

4 days when I cut a tendon in my hand as there were more urgent cases so my surgery kept getting postponed. It was actually pretty cool laying in bed all day being waited on hand and foot by pretty women in nurse outfits .

11 weeks in skeletal traction when I fractured my pelvis and several other bones in a motorcycle accident

4 days for me too, after pickin up dysentery in India. To be fair, it was the nicest accommodation I stayed in during my trip :p

10 days due to a kidney brick in which time I saw 4 different hospital wards as there were no beds available in the correct dept - I was climbing the walls after a few days so god knows how I would cope with longer.

A couple of days when I was a nipper that I only have the most extremely vague memories of.

But as an adult just one overnight stay had an operation and was in overnight, discharged the next day.

Five days with a twisted bowel. Got lucky too, on the morning of the day I was supposed to be going into surgery the thing decided to rectify itself. This is no word of a lie, within 10 minutes of it untwisting the **** I took was epic. It pretty much filled the toilet to the point where my knuckles scraped the ****pile when wiping my arse.

Fortunately just the once overnight for an operation on my shoulder which I dislocated a second time playing rugby. Had a bit of work on my nose when it was broken but that was less than 6 hours in the hospital!

So in total I've been to a hospital twice as a patient and spent less than 48hrs, I'be been blessed not to have had anything wrong with me, and somehow escaping serious injuries other than cracked ribs and broken fingers.
