i am only lvl 18 and just had a foray into dz as i need some gear upgrades. No idea what i am doing but i did matchmaking and it put me in a group. Running about killing npcs and then get told one of my team went rogue and now i am rogue and got wrecked by other players.

So if i use matchmaking and get some arse that decides to go rogue, that screws me too? :|

Honestly i don't understand this at all it really genuinely isn't hard to get div tech i have 44 of them and literally don't spend any time in the DZ Are you sure you are doing a "full run" My friends who are 50+ in the DZ are all fully geared in surplus of div tech and have only spent about 150 hours on the game. That really is no time at all.

EDIT : I also don't think ive ever opened up two boxes consecutively and not got a single yellow so not sure about this 90% either.

Well you and your friends can consider yourself very lucky. I have 114 hours, rank 53 in the DZ and in total, I think I have had about 20 at the most of yellow division tech. Most of the time, the boxes have been opened.

And if scavenging does anything, mine is between 150-200% iirc.

Yup. I've got all level 31s apart from 1 maybe 2 pieces, those are level 30 high end drops from challenge mode.

What is the obsession with getting perfect rolls though ? You are literally going to spend hundreds of hours getting perfect rolls on all your armor pieces, only to get rid of them once the gear sets start dropping from the incursions.

Can you do challenge mode at the minute with ease ? then that's all you need. There's no need to get a perfect setup on your month 1 gear that you're about to get rid of in a few weeks.

well now you've found one. Its done deliberately to gate your progression and slow you down. The same as having a weekly lockout on loot from the incursion. It's to keep you playing and artificially slow you down and keep you coming back and interested in playing and buying the DLC. Standard for games in this genre.

I've got to the point now where my character is almost perfect. I've got enough gear to solo hard missions with so much ease its boring and enough that i can carry lower geared players in challenge mode. If you can do that, why do you NEED better gear ? Don't fall into the trap of grinding endlessly for slightly better gear if you don't want to. There's no actual need to do it. Stop doing it if you're not enjoying it.

Because you have a better chance of getting better level 30 items "overall" than level 31 items... like I said, the fact that everyone is running around with a vector shows that it is pointless trying to get a better "overall" level 31 item.

Isn't this what this game is largely about.... you know, getting the best possible stats, gear etc. If I didn't strive/care for better gear, I would still be on most of my purples not to mention, I probably wouldn't be playing the game now until the DLC drops.

And no, I can't do a challenge mission by myself, with 2 or 3 other similar specced players though, it is easy.

Well aware of why it is done but for myself and as shown in that reddit thread and many other threads across the internet, it is killing interest in the game for most people instead as what else is there to do once you have hit rank 50 in the dz and done all the stuff in the single/coop player?

So they're adding sets to the game? Do we know what bonuses these will offer yet?

I posted above
As soon as the incursions drop, all your gear is no longer going to be top drawer and you'll be craving the set gear from the incursion drops.

Joy... Clearing out bosses to get to division tech box only to have some guy run in and open the division tech. box and people think this system is fine lol.......

Your stats look good enough for lex or tunnels on challenging, theyre easy, the others will be tougher, just try to get your armour up so you take less damage from bullets.

Heres a good post on the official forums covering most aspects of builds, survival, & dps, cant remember if someone posted this before:

I'm only sitting at 3600ish armour (50% reduction) & I've done all challenging, not always smoothly, but done nevertheless.

Basic tip for challenging - always focus the shotgunners (lightning symbol) or melee 1st, followed by the snipers, then grenadiers with your team mates.

Thanks for that, about to head on so will review my gear and see where improvements can be made, not sure what my overall armour is tbh

that particular part is annoying. The chests should open all the time and you're on a personal 2 hour cooldown meaning every chest you go to has tech in and you can just loop endlessly round the dark zone trying your luck. If you open the chest before the cooldown, it just opens, closes and you get nothing.

But that system would never work, as it would require the server knowing if you'd opened the chest before or not. Move to another server and that new server won't know, meaning you could endlessly cycle between servers picking up the same 2/3 chests.

You can check your armour on the inventory screen>character tab, press right cursor I think its 3 times? till you get to the survival section, tells you there.

what do people buy/craft between dz levels 30-50? The better plans/gear need level 50; otherwise, vendors haven't been able to give me much of an upgrade - kind of in limbo gearwise after level 30.

You want the blueprints from the special operations vendor in your base of operations (up stairs on the left )

these are level 31 but don't need dark zone rank or division tech to craft

As fr0dd said, the guy in the tech room. But also, the rank 50 recipes are 90% useless except for the one in DZ06 who sells them for Phoenix Credits.

Basically Phoenix Credits get you iLevel 31 stuff in BoO and DZ, but the DZ creds get you iLevel 30 (and iLvl 31 is a fairly significant step up).

Any tips? I'm lvl 18 and about to start into the DZ. Most of my gear isn't great, is it better to buy, upgrade or just grind and hope you pick it up?

Mainly, when you start out just learn what the hell is going on in the DZ, how to extract, where enemy groups are, how rogue mechanic works etc. When you start out in the DZ you have nothing at all to lose so best time to get your head around it and you may also come out with a few upgrades at the same time
