Need some ideas on bath room updates

I'd replace the radiator with a modern double panel radiator that is far narrower then relocate the sink onto that wall. This then frees up space to put a walk in shower:

You're a pain for working in feet and inches by the way, I had to convert each one to cm! :p

Sorry the only tape measure I had was in feet and inches.

Light switch shouldn't be on the wall in a bathroom anyway.

Just out of interest have you had a look behind those plastic panels? In my experience anywhere a panel has been put is a nightmare behind.

Move the light switch :p

We changed our bathroom door so it opens out, is that an option?

Feeble excuse!!! ;) :p

Exactly, wouldn't be a big job and would make the space much more useable!!

Yes, It was plastered walls behind them.

Remove the light switch completely and install a motion sensor. Best thing we ever did having a 3 year old. Means he can use the bathroom without needing someone to turn the light on for him.

Not great when the Mrs is trying to have a relaxing bath with candles I wouldn't have thought?

Ours works really well, it has setting for length of time the light stays on and natural light levels before it kicks in and switches the bathroom light on. If the light goes off whilst in the bathroom, it doesn't take much movement to switch it back on again.

Didn't cost anymore to install either as it was just another hole in the ceiling rather than chasing out a wall for the cable and switch.

Also means the bathroom light doesn't get left on accidentally anymore, which was always a favourite in our household.

We raised this point when getting it installed as it was a concern. The sensor was off set in the ceiling towards the door, sink and toilet. It's just far enough away from the bath that you can move about whilst laying in the bath and it won't trigger, but are still able to wave an hand at arms length to set it off.

I would go for this, but have the door open the other way (but still opening inwards) to give you space to move the radiator even further towards the door. You're not meant to have doors opening into a walkway, if for example there's a landing outside.

I'm sure you can easily fit a walk in shower cubicle in there and if you possibly can, I'd definitely recommend doing so as it's a lot more desirable than a shower in bath, imo.

my 2 pence worth change rad to towel rail as its way oversized for room . This then frees up space to hang the door so it opens other way to the wall.

also removing the cupboard would give more options in layout

2013 option 1 looks good but try putting the sink where the rad is and then put a rad/towle rail in to the corner on the same wall . may give you more space to move toilet away from bath a bit and just play with sink/rad sizes to get a good fit

Typically a towel heater will be insufficient for heating even a small room on a cold day on its own. You'd need a proper radiator and / or underfloor heating.

So the reason I said about the soil pipe is that as it stands you'll be in the bath with your head right next to the toilet. My wife was very fussy about that not being the case when I was doing our bathroom.
