I bought a jumper from ebay in the wrong size and have it wrapped ready to return to china. It was £11.99 plus £3.90 P&P, and they'll refund all that.

However, the post office just quoted me just under £11 to return and that's without adding tracking. I don't know how they sent it so cheap from china to me but I was hoping to get a lot closer to £4 P&P return. Are there any alternatives?

Also, I got a message on the 21st to send it back for them to receive it by 12th April so I'm cutting it fine.

Unless it took 2 months to get to the OP they probably used airmail.

Albeit airmail rather than shipping container but I think the same principles apply (its getting batched up) with the use of super cheap Hongkong post by the sender.

You can barely send that parcel in the UK for £4 as a private individual not doing any sort of volume. How did you expect it to get to China for the same price?

Often also the case, they have the stuff they sell already at a holding centre in UK or Europe, expecting to sell the batch and distribute from there. Often they will have a UK based returns address, depending on the size of the company.

Why would you buy a jumper from China in the first place? I only buy clothing online if the store have a free return postage policy.

If i buy stuff on ebay stating China as sellers location i don't ever expect to return it. I think you are crazy for even thinking it. Treat it as a gamble if it will fit or be any good.
If you are an A hole you can always go the "didn't receive the item route"
