I purchased a product not available from OCuk on another site and got royally done.

I received Fruit nuggets instead of Haribo. Pfffft, i would rather have that edible flo pack stuff made of starch!

I want to ask GD what you have received from other companies as a little free-bee when placing an order. I don't want this to be a bragging contest over getting free expensive stuff just by chance or one off but rather to see what other companies regularly put in their parcels other than the ordered items.

OCuk - Haribo
The Fowndry - Fruit Nuggets

Have you lot got any surprise sweeties from other companies?

My hosting company shovels chocolate/cakes/lolipops to me every holiday :D

For easter:

(2 are thank you's from 2 clients I referred, the other is from the hosting company)

My company got a lot of Whisky, rum and gin from our suppliers this Easter, but i would count that as a one off holiday thing. They certainly don't send with every parcel or we would never get anything done!!

Nice one :-)

Last 2 places I've worked:

1) Public sector, NHS
2) Private sector, small computing firm <25 people

... anything that got given to us from clients had to be declared and auctioned off. Even if it's just a £5 box of Roses/Celebrations!! O.o

The wife worked at a Plastic manufacturer and they had to declare all items given but they were raffled off at Xmas- all the staff were given a ticket.

Her boss was peed off when she won the Mont Blanc pen :D

What? You can't send a gift to NHS workers without it being auctioned off? Does that apply across the NHS in general?

I've sent chocolates to my local surgery before as a thank you but have no idea whether they chomped through them or not - so now this has me a bit concerned!

The individual does not get it, as it breaks all sorts of rules. I know some hospitals that raffle it off to the staff and keep all the biscuit/choccie tins for the staff room, which i personally think is fair. Each patient has quite a few people doing stuff for them and often there are the unsung hero nurses/staff that dont get face time with the family/patient.

Public sector organisations will have their own Policies on gifts/hospitality.

Normally they have to be declared/declined for bribery/corruption reasons at certain values, but you should be ok with gifts of a negligible value - eg box of chocs to a teacher at the end of term etc. I'd imagine giving the receptionist in the doctors a box of roses is the same.

It's more eg, free tickets to the England game for the procurement manager from the company trying to win a contract, that it's intended to combat.

Company name didn't start with Euro did it??
