Lets talk Vodka!! (I'd rather Drink Vodka myself)

I got a Russian Standard for £16 at Sainsbury's :)

Not tried Stoli red I don't think, but I'd struggle to choose which was better between RS and Stoli.

Didn't spot that! RS and Stoli red are equivalent market share, both produced from wheat, distilled in Russia, barely discernible! Nothing touches them in that price bracket either, unless you can get tovaritch!

Will take a look after work, ta.

As already mentioned, you just have to win BOTW ;)
Not much chance of that but I'm still trying. It'll need a lot of people to fall by the wayside ;)

If you happen to have a Waitrose in vicinity pop in and get yourself a bottle of Reyka for £26
I do, but it's only a Little Waitrose so it might not have it. I'll check though, thanks.

I don't freeze mine, I drink it at room temperature (you only need it from the freezer if it's cheap) and I don't shoot it, I sip it, so it goes into a tumbler like a good whisky should.

Tends to be a mixture, sometimes only the shot glass has been in the freezer. Sometimes the bottle has been in the fridge/freezer.

Agreed though, if it's a really good vodka it can definitely be taken like a good whisky.

Have you tried that Starka?

I've got a bottle of brennivin that I've had in the freezer for the last ten years. Must get around to opening it one day. No relevance to vodka, just sayin' :D

Wyborowa and Zubrowka were my bottles of choice. Ice cold and down the hatch, none of this mixing lark. Oh and for those special occasions try some Polish Pure White Spirit, it adds hairs to your chest... :p

+1, Zubrowka is lovely and down to £15 in some Asdas around our way, i'm biased anyway as my other half is Polish :D

Intrigued by Ketel One, how does it compare to Reyka?
That's my current go to, for sipping.

You will find the Ketel One is more challenging neat. Reyka is very creamy and smooth, with very mild notes to it. Ketel One you will find is a lot cleaner, sharper, crisper, more "peppery". If you like Reyka, and you like sipping vodka, I'd suggest you look at Vestal Potato Vodka or Belvedere Unfiltered.

got a bottle of stoli 70cl for £12 and a bottle of killer queen for £14.

killer queen will go in the collection. stoli for drinking.

seems to me that stoli, russian standard and zubrowka are the ones to go for. after that it's the good old law of diminishing returns.

£12 in Tesco.

Sip it, mix it, what? Should it live in the fridge?

I've taken to sticking Stolichnaya Elit into a fridge set to 1 degree C. I love how the chill effects this vodka and to me anyway it feels like it intensifies the aftertaste.

I had vodka and enjoyed it a few nights ago! I have no idea if it was good or bad vodka (I am guessing it would be something like Smirnoff as it a bar) but I had it with lemonade after a few bevvies.

Corsair picked up the bill too, which made everything even sweeter. I am now looking to see if I can find a GOOD miniature sample set to see if it was just a one off or if I have gained a taste!

Cold vodka is so much nicer! Just above freezing and with ice is perfect in my opinion.

There's a club in Munich that makes a sort of slushy with vodka and orange juice. It's soo nice!

Currently have a Stoli Elit, a Russian Standard, a belvedere and an Absolut.

But I don't drink vodka really, so none of them have been touched in the last 6 months or so :p Dread to think how many whiskies have come and gone in that time...

One does not dilute vodka with ice. Ever. Unless you're making a shooter in a shaker, but then you're not drinking vodka anymore. You want it cold, put it in a freezer, no ice cube nonsense.

I find vodka goes best straight up, no chaser drink, no matter how sharp or ugly it might taste. One can however, chase it with a pickle or some dried sausage. Sunflower seeds are okay too, 1 seed for 1 glass, like a russian.

The best one I've had personally would be Grey Goose from £30+ bracket, room temperature. Second best Green Mark, after it's been in the freezer for 12 odd hours, then there's Russian Standard and Stolichnaya Original or whatever it's called. Friends told me, Stolichnaya was THE 'go to' vodka for taste in Soviet Union around 30 years ago, now it sucks apparently.

Question to mods: can I put links to images like this if they're not on photobucket-type site, or does this count as forbidden too? Can I hotlink images found on Google Images or should I rehost the to proper sites?

You're not allowed to hotlink. Just rehost them.

What's wrong with ice? Rarely lasts long enough to melt :D.

Although to be honest I'm not even sure why I have ice as the vodka is cold anyway .
