I absolutely despise TV adverts to the point where if I am watching anytihng I will change channel and miss parts of a programme or film. The channel would get changed to a music channel, anything bbc, basically anything thats not an advert. Even BBC and Skysportsnews have adverts now so can't seem to get away from them.

Youtube is just as bad and I do the same. If there is a video with an advert longer than 5 seconds I would generally try and find it on another link or not watch it at all.

Can anything be done such as paying more to banish adverts forever. I would happily pay double TV licence or even triple to get rid of them all

Rant out

lol I was totally unaware of adverts on Youtube! I presume they're video adverts? Ublock user here. I don't mind Google's text-based ads, but pop-overs, pop-unders and the Flash based ones gets my goat. Even worse are the "breaking" pop-ups on BBC News, although not necessarily adverts, there are ads on other web sites using a similar mechanism and adblockers can't block those.

As for TV ads... I was watching Deal or No Deal (on channel 4?) in a gym. The run time is about 1 hour, but I could have sworn that there were 5 advert breaks i.e. once every 10 minutes. TV didn't used to be as bad as this when I regularly watched TV back in the 90s?

ublock for me too, youtube doesn't have adverts :).

To be honest the only way you can truly get rid of adverts is by not using legal methods to view stuff (not saying do this obviously) or by buying online copies of stuff if you can get it from somewhere like google or apple.

You look at tv these days and in some series theres more product placement than there is show....
If you buy a BR/DVD they usually get adverts and/or 'pirate video promotion' stuck at the front which if you're lucky you can skip.

You go to the cinema... adverts at start, adverts in the middle if they do a split sitting and in some cases at the end too, not to mention as you walk round too.

BBC is full of adverts for their own shows or their 'gap filler', the other channels are funded by them so you get stuck with them even if you pay for sky.

So you try online/catchup services and get even more adverts shown on the shows there.

And the worst thing a lot of channels are now 'synchronising' their advert breaks so you can't channel hop. Adverts are getting to the point where theres more of it than some shows... and it's even worse on websites.

People are sick of adverts and the advertisers wonder why theres a massive uptick in adblockers...it's pretty simple we've had enough lol

Adblock user here as well. Don't mind watching 5 second ads or clicking to skip ads but I don't feel like having to sit through 30 second ads in order to watch 2 minute YouTube videos is acceptable. Don't mind switching Adblock off for websites I want to support.

I was trying to find the banking advert where they pit 2 couples against each other and after they were trying to save soo much money, then close to the advert they didnt even tell us who won pis por :(
that advert drives me nuts. also its prolly a banking advert :(

We record anything we might watch an only ever watch the news live.

A HTPC with multiple tuners and a large HDD is what you need. There are addons for WMC which will remove ads from recordings.

I don't even bother switching channels any more because a lot of channels are in sync showing ads at the same time. I just zone out and am often surprised when the program comes back because I complete forgot what I was watching. :p
