Are bluetooth headphones any good

Depends on budget and which variant of Bluetooth they use. Generally, less than say £150 they wont be anything special at all, and even above that you'll typically get much better sound quality from cabled headphones.

Sennheisers RS120-II is about the cheapest set of bluetooth headphones you should really consider unless you dont mind some iffy audio quality.

How iffy would it be ive been using £20 sony and bush headphones, would it be worse ?

id say at that level it probably wont matter as no matter what you buy it will sound horrible.

Id honestly save for a few weeks and get together £50-60 and get something quality that will last.

Hyper X Cloud 1, Creative Avura Live, Brainwavez HM5 (if you shop around maybe?) superlux hd668b,

Buy 1 quality set that will last years or buy several £20 sets that break and sound like garbage?

You do have a point, pay a bit more and get something that will last longer and sound better, but I still dont know what to get, also on the better headphone do they have longer warranty ?

Ive already replaced 3 sets over 3 years

the reason I was looking at Bluetooth is because one of the reason my headphone stop working is when the cable gets tugged too hard.

It would be very iffy, as would the sound quality, and the quality of the Bluetooth (might drop a lot, have long lg periods, and not receive all the sound packets).

That cable issue sounds more like an issue with the way you care for them, more so than manufacturers fault - especially given the frequency. I presume you know not to tug on cables, or put undue stress on the cable? The carry the headphones by the headphone body and not the cable? When removing them from the jack to hold them by the pin and not pull them out using the cable?

I have a pair of AKG Y45's that I use for my iPad and am very happy with them when out and about.

At home I use K702's through my SxR set up. In a different league for sound quality, but what I would expect.

If I didn't have the K702's I would still think that the bluetooth AKG's were good. They're just not as good.

I mostly use the headphones at home with the pc, Its alway a case of someone pulling the(kids) or getting caught in something and get pulled when I move Im assuming its not normal but it happens, its happen quicker with poor quality headphones. I think ill need to loop the next one around the back so its not in the way.

I have the AKG Y45, and when I first got it, I found them to be ok for out and about uses...not bad and nothing special. However after getting my Sony MDR-1ABT, I've put on the Y45 again to try, and just couldn't bare listening to it more than a 1 minute before putting it back down...the MDR-1ABT simply sound SO much better than I couldn't stand going back to the Y45.

Just try and stretch to £50.

You can then get something like the Creative Aurvana Live, or the AKG Y50.

They are worth the extra ten quid.

Panasonic RP-HTF600E-S are worth a look for £44 as well. Shame as they used to be about £25 till everyone realised they were good value!

If you are really tied to £40, get the Superlux. Wireless at your price point are a waste of time.

you need headphones with a detachable cable with no locking system.

fidelio x1's come to mind.

This does highlight why cheap Bluetooth headphones are really not all that good. Money that is spent on the electronics, is money that is not spent on what is most important in a pair of headphones. Not so much of a problem when the Bluetooth headphones are expensive enough to take the cost of the electrical components, but have enough money left to make the headphones sound good too.

On the other hand though, it does depend on the individual. Two people who both own Y45; one is still happy with them despite owning better headphones, the other finds them too inferior to use after using better headphones. Although, there is a point when Bluetooth headphones become too cheap to sound any good to anyone whose hearing actually works. I think the Y45 are around £70. The Y40 is £40-45 though, and that is probably bordering on just a bit too low really. Anything lower will surely sound like toilet. Sure the Y40 gets good comments on the jungle site, but many people have no idea as long as the product actually does work.

At the budget end, wired headphones are by far the better choice from a sound quality point of view. If we consider the Creative Aurvana Live! for example, they will still sound good compared to headphones costing 3x as much. Maybe they won't sound as good, but at their low cost, they aren't impeded by being stuffed full of cheap electronics, just so they can be wireless.

If you would prefer wireless because wired is in some way or another a hassle, then get them from a place where you can return them if they aren't as good as you hoped for.

If wired is not a problem though, then I'd probably go for the Superlux HD668B. For sound quality, they will smeg over any similarly priced wireless headphones.

Edit: As above - if you can stump up the extra £10, the CAL! is well worth £50.

Thanks for the replys

does any one know if the Superlux HD668B have a detachable aux cable ?
are the Superlux HD668B comfortable ?

Creative Aurvana Live are we talking about 1. 2 ?
is the sound quality good better then most wired ?

how long is the warranty on either ?

1. HD668B does. CAL! 1, doesn't. CAL! 2, does.

2. HD668B comfort is pretty good that I know of, but I've seen some people say they can get a bit hot due to being pleather material. Velour pads can be bought for them thought from Thomann, for better comfort over longer periods.

3. CAL! 1. CAL! 2 is twice the price and not worth buying as there are better choices for £100.

4. HD668B is one of the best sounding headphones in it's price category, but the CAL! is better, as it was once a higher priced headphone, but now cheaper. It's based on the old Denon AH-D1001, which used to retail at around £100. HD668B has always been around the £35 mark.

5. 1 year warranty on all I'd imagine.

Purely from a cable point of view, the HD668B would be the best choice, if you are bothered about the cable getting trashed. You can just attach a new one. I think that's the only reason to go for the HD668B over the CAL! though.

Whatever you get, make sure you get them from a place where you can return without hassle if they are not to your liking, for whatever reason.

Same applies to the Bluetooth headphones as well, if you are curious whether they will offer what you are looking for; or if you have a Richer Sounds store close to you, you could pop in and try a pair of AKG Y50, which they sell.

I ended up ordering the Creative wp 380 direct from Creative.
The reviews ive seen are good and its seem to have both the features and sound of the high end model only lack the design.
They come with a 2 year warranty and was on offer for £50

I think I made a good choice these headphones work great wireless and even better wired, the sound is clear and they come with 2 year warranty, they also have a built in mic.

Best of bother
Im happy with them at the moment.
