So, erm... I hit a Ford the other day. (pics)

So, thw story continues! The buyer did not respond till after the MOT ran out and refused to collect when he did finally respond.

I sent him a notice explaining that I was going to take him to small claims court, and also stated I would be charging him £20 a day for storage :D

The buyer changed his mind and decided to pay me the £155 for the sale and also £35 for storage costs.. Then he told me to keep the car!

So it's STILL sat on my drive and I have to try and sell it again, this time with no MOT! The damn thing is never going to leave me!

LOL, amazing. The people you meet through ebay are often totally bizarre

Just ebay it again this time with no MOT, expect less but you have already been paid for it, so who cares :p

Best thing is, eBay auctions aren't legally binding anyway, so he could easily have got away with ignoring your messages and not paying. Wish I had buyers like him!

I read up on it and there seems to be some ambiguity on the subject. Some claiming a bid is a clear binding contract, others saying it's legally untested but should be binding, others saying ebay say it is, but actually it's clearly not.
As with most things on ebay, clear as mud!

I only pushed in this case as the car had significantly higher value with the MOT than it did after the buyer contacted me and pulled out. So I was very annoyed!

I have now re-sold it on ebay..
102 squid, with no MOT/TAX
Apparently its off to become a track day car!? I guess he must have a manual box ready and waiting for it, because that current gearbox is not fit for any kind of track use!

Just been collected on a flatbed with such an awful handbrake that the thing rolled backwards when he was moving on the ramps!

You've done quite well out of that all things considered!!

And yes, eBay seems to be inhabited by some very odd people....

Same here, I almost filled a 2 litre engine with water and managed to fix it, the only clever thing I had to do was suck the last of the water out of the engine and inlet manifold using a compressor.

Well done on the thread OP, it's been an entertaining tale of events :D
