You would be mad to buy this for gaming :/ AMD is pricing themselves to idiocy. I would understand if this card was clocked similar to fury x, but now it is too funny to get it for just gaming.
I think prices will fall down its face as soon as their own Polaris based cards are launched.

They don't want people to buy it. They want a easy xfire solution to send to key devs(focusing on game engine makers) so they have a easy quite solution to work with every day and encourage them to work on multigpu support. Likewise they want it available so that Anandtech and co are encouraged to include an AMD card that spanks everything else in most reviews sitting at the top.

Same as the Titan Z, a card to be out, available but not in high volume and priced where not many want it.

I don't know why people keep bringing up Titan Z, that card was noting more then a novelty that was quietly shipping out the back door without getting much notice. The 295X2 was initial high as with all new cards but then again it was never meant to a be sold in volume but the available was always there.

I exactly called the Titan Z a novelty and while 295x2 pricing was high, it wasn't obscenely high nor dramatically higher than 2 separate 290x's. It cost more to make and cost more to buy, but it wasn't more than 2.5x the cost of two cards separately.

Waste of time, no point in getting the way crossfire has been supported in the last 6 months

+1

This shouldn't be enticing any gamers.

It's not for gamers though. AMD said in their conference and later in an interview it's predominantly for developers so they can get a head start on native Multi GPU support for DX12 and Vulkan.

As mGPU is the future for them, and that multi gpus will become as prevalent as multicore CPUs.

No gamer should even consider this card, unless they're also a developer, but even then two Furys would be better.

MGPU in general has gone down the toilet in modern releases. DX11 mGPU methods just cant cope with modern game engines. It is not always the case that a game engine can be adapted to allow dx11 mGPU to work.

Considering under Vega they were talking about scalability. I can see gpus going back to 2000 era with multiple small dies on a card. But that can only work well If the software support gets improved.

something nvidia has been doing for years. doesnt stop people paying money though

At least the owners thread will be easy for Kaap to maintain :)

What owners thread? I don't see anyone here mad enough to get one :D
I was considering buying fury x2 when it was announced, thinking that they will be clocked similar to fury x and will not get delayed by half a year or more ;)
