Panama Papers

I'm sure he could roger a pig live on TV and some here would defend him. Or they to are being 'creative' with their tax and don't like the thought of being considered 'morally bankrupt'. ;)

Or perhaps they bother to understand things by themselves before forming an opinion rather than just jumping on the latest Twitter bandwagon.

the two issues are:

1. Cameron handled this in the worst possible way this week
2. His father offshored his company to a tax haven, a position which doesn't fit well with the current climate of trying to close tax loopholes for businesses / wealthy people

A simple statement on Monday morning saying that "while he loved and respected his father - this is a point they would disagree on" or some such thing would have shot the story down early.

I wonder if all the other Corbynista's are going to publish their tax returns. Let's start with Emily Thornberry. That'll be fun.

Actually, seeing Corbyns return to start with would be nice, not sure whats taking so long.

Yeah my grandparents done the same. General population is stupid though what do you honestly expect? :D

It expect all of these muppets to be cynically wishing that Camerons mother snuffs it within 7 years so that he has to pay the IHT.

Pathetic state of affairs. This whole thing has turned into a farce.

It just reeks of desperation to cling to the notion that there might be something - anything - that they can use to pillage somebody they are simply ideologically opposed to. It's really incredibly pathetic and the longer it goes on the worse the anti brigade make themselves look and the less seriously future protests against things can be taken. No longer is it possible to associate the size of a protest against something with the mavity of the situation.

Some of the placards at yesterdays protests were just plain stupid - how anyone with a banner saying 'TORYS OUT' can be taken seriously is beyond me (In the same way that nobdy with a banner saying LABOUR OUT 10 years ago should have been taken seriously, either). The opportunity to change the party of government is given to us once every 5 years so banging on about TORYS OUT 1 year after an election serves what purpose exactly? Demonstrates some people don't like the current government? Wow, hold the front page!

It gets me that when it's the rich and tax evasion people defend them "it's immoral but legal etc" and yet when you get the usual DM articles with a family of 12 claiming x amount in benefits those same people have kittens about it and want them punished in some way. Both acting immorally, both acting legally and yet opinions change. it really is one rule for the rich and another for the poor.

That's because it was single mothers on benefits that caused the global financial crash.

Agreed, violence is the only answer

So a few people are following suit. Dugdale in Scotland, Corbo here. And pretty sure the following will emerge: our politicians are compensated for their work and journalistic activity; some are paid more than others and have property (yes, I know, buy-to-let boo! etc); and they use professional accountants, which of course means some of their rhetoric may come under close scrutiny for some hypocrisy bingo.

Again, considering what Cams has published, his behaviour was downright bizarre. On the world stage of leaders he doesn't even raise an eyebrow, and it is only by his own words and policy that he made it a sort of crisis of confidence.

But, before the daggers are out for blood, pray tell, whom do you see replacing Cameron? Yep, the talent field's a bit bare at the moment, the situation couldn't be worse and we are miles away from anything but a Tory leadership contest, in the most dramatic scenario. So, instead of the silly placards asking for the wrong thing, why not use the media storm to finally push through the transparency reforms that are long overdue?

Tribal affiliation? Both are bad PR, and respectively chip away at the public trust in and perception of the institutions concerned. It would be silly to highlight one on 'public interest' grounds and not the other, but our media has its priorities. And, no, speaking for myself only, I wouldn't take away money from 12 kids, even if their parents are irresponsible, pro-life or just dim.

As refreshing as it is to learn that the government aren't immune from low-quality tabloid outrage pieces from the publications that tend to fall in line as a vehicle for press releases, I assume this has more to do with DC being on the 'wrong' side of the EU debate than said publications suddenly finding any form of moral compass.

It's unfortunate that it's become a distraction from our current account deficit, the continuing slide in value of our currency, industrial output falling off a cliff, and data that shows yet another of Osborne's targets is going to be wildly missed (the export value by 2020 one).
