Purchased a Asus GTX980Ti from Overclockers about 2 weeks ago, frequently on turning the PC on from cold, I get a blank screen? After re-starting it is OK. Not sure if I should return the card. I have not contacted Overclockers or Asus about this problem yet, but will do. Any advice, please?

Not sure, but I will check the bios. The MB is a Asus Sabertooth Z77. I certainly don't want the hassle of returning the card if it is just the bios. When I have some time, in next few days, I will do this. I will then report back to the forum.

Thanks. The connection is Display Port going to a Dell 27'' 4K Monitor. I will try this soon, but not now, soon to go out. A lovely warm sunny day here in London! I will get back on all these things.

If it's running a not upto date bios then I'd put money on it tbh...

I have tried to update the bios, but the Asus EZ Bios update utility will not read the file? It is a CAP file? What is a CAP file? I thought all Bios updates were ROM files? Not so EZ, after all!

At the moment when i boot one of my dual monitors are black on startup. i turn off the monitor and back on and the image is there! I assume its a driver issue or something.

Im using 1 display port and other is DVI

Might seem like a daft suggestion but try reseating the card in the slot. Had s similar issue with my 980. The splash screen would display but as soon as Windows started loading got a black screen. I thought the card was faulty but fortunately was just this easy fix.

I have just updated the BIOS on the motherboard from 1616 to latest 2104. So I hope the occasional PC starting with blank screen is now cured. If the problem persists then Overclockers have agreed to replace the Asus GTX980Ti card. This was a replacement from my previous GTX960 card, and I have noticed the improvement in frame rates. No more stuttering with my Train Simulator or other game/sims. I will be updating shortly to a new motherboard, CPU, DDR4, to make the PC system VR ready. Hoping to get a demo from Currys PCW of the HTC VIVE soon, when not so busy. However, I will probably opt for the Oculus Rift.
