Why do people think a positive, naive view based on wishful thinking should be followed over a negative view associated with fear of potential loss?

Is it a case of, you dont try, you dont get?

Well, i dont mind playing the odd lottery on a rollover or entering in the sweepstake at work but betting a countries economy and expecting to win is a bit much for most.

There are plenty of laws that we do want as well!

I guess what i'm after is evidence that the UK actually has any influence in EU law making? We hear all the time from the remain camp that "we'll lose influence" if we leave, but what exactly is this influence? We all know we have a lot of EU red tape and bureaucracy to adhere to (even the Government admits it) so why weren't we able to stop all this junk when it was devised and where's the evidence we actually have any influence?

Getting so dull reading it now, rather than produce a viable counter-argument, it's the simple, catch all cop out. I'm afraid your common sense approach will merely be shot down. Pointing out one likely outcome is scaremongering. It's the current buzzword to disparage and belittle anything that doesn't agree with one's agenda.

We just need SJW, cultural marxism and leftie now to call 'lolscorza house'. Oh and a breitbart rss link.

I am amazed after the negotiation the UK did with the EU with the threat of a credible Brexit and literally got nothing in return, you think we would get a better deal outside a couple of months down the line after leaving....

If anything, the recent negotiation have shown that the EU won't compromise. Just like the EU did not compromise with the Greece threat & referendum of leaving during the recent crisis.

I mean you have all the evidence with these two recent negotiations? Did the EU seriously compromise on one issue during these negations?

Ah OK it will be suddenly different once we leave. Gotcha.

4 point lead for the leave campaign in recent ICM poll lovely, it's interesting about the designated leave campaign group, I always knew it was going to be Vote Leave, but all the people I've spoke to don't give a monkeys what group is putting the message across.

I have said it on here before and I'll say it again, poll or no poll Cameron will not take this country out of the EU.

We can only hope. I dont let my niece choose what she wants for dinner all the time, or it would be cake and ice cream every day. It is bad for you and she doesn't know any better :)

He will have no choice. If he doesn't he will have no political integrity or future left and also, it would be the day democracy died in this country.

If there was no referendum fine, but ignoring the result of a referendum vote is unforgivable.

If he takes us out he won't have any political future anyway and anybody who thinks ignoring a referendum is unlikley then think again.
However important it might be the referendum is not binding.

Yeah the countries just a big bag of racist idiots, no one is capable of making sound voting choices apart from The Guardian readers

Democracy doesn't have a full hold anyway, not that i would want it to. How many UKIP votes and how many MPs do they have (actual UKIP MPs ;))

Terrible you think so lowly of your countrymen. I am of the opinion that the average person is not qualified to understand the complexity of EU politics or economics and so letting everyone have a say may be fair in procedure but produce an unfair and unwanted result in practice

If we in Britain can recognise this, then the boys across the water would surely also be thinking along the same lines. People can call remainers negative scare mongerers but brexiters can also be called naive, overly positive, wishers.
You really think the EU will conspire to sacrifice trade to poke us in the eye? If the EU is that petty then surely it’s just as likely that they’ll conspire to marginalise us if we return with our tail between ours legs and are now stuck for a generation?

Why not?

Are you claiming that the only people who know what's best for this country are the oxbridge educated elite, many of whom have never done a days work or know what it's like to live on the breadline.

No i am claiming that sometimes the decision is better made by experts, not elites, not everyone.

As for democracy not having a full hold, our voting system is far from proportional.

Sadly yes. There was a recent poll showing that higher educated people are for staying in while people with only GCSE's are vastly for out.

It was some crazy ratio of 70% for in, people who have had a university degree and 60% for out with GCSE's.

Not really surprising if you ask me.

We can only hope....that the PM and Government go against the wishes of the majority of voters in the event of leave? Sounds like you might fit in better in Soviet Russia or North Korea.

Nope but that they will cut flesh to save bone.

Losing the UK will have a smaller economic impact to the EU if the terms given were not accommodating. Just standard business.

Maybe the primary school syllabus should be decided by the kids in class via vote rather than a council focusing on improving education.
